In early July 2012, Kaspersky Labs were the first to discover this trojan app (called Find and Call) on both the Google Android marketplace and the Apple store.

While most of us have come to terms with the fact that Android malware is here to stay, it was a surprise to find a confirmed malware on the Apple Store. Find and Call became the first trojan to appear on the iOS app store (It was listed under IT Mobile).

Since the discovery by Kaspersky, this app has been removed from both Apple Store and Google Play.

This incident is a reminder of the fact that as tablets become more mainstream computing devices, the threats associated with them will also go up.

Anti-malware on the Android platform is already a musthave given the exponential rise in attempted breaches on that platform. Whether that applies to the Apple iOS platform is only a matter of time.
