FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Loyal Carlon TITLE: Suzanne Flint Appointed As New Adele Harrison Middle School Vice Principal Suzanne Flint was selected as the new vice principal at Adele Harrison Middle School (AHMS) beginning August 1, 2017. She replaces Jillian Beal who was recently selected as Dunbar Elementary School Principal. Ms. Flint’s educational career began in Sonoma Valley in 1993 as a school counselor at Altimira Middle School. At that time Altimira was the only middle school in the District serving over 1250 students. From Altimira Ms. Flint served as Director of Sonoma Valley Youth and Family Services until 2001 when she became school counselor at El Verano Elementary School. In 2004, she moved to Auburn California serving first as vice principal at a K-8 school and then as principal of a K-5 elementary school. She has long considered a return to Sonoma and the opening at AHMS gave her that opportunity. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a BA in Psychology

and Sociology. In 1993 she earned her MA in Counseling and her Pupil Personnel Services Credential from Sonoma State University. In 2000 she earned her Flint – pg. 2

Administrative Services Credential. Ms. Flint is bilingual in Spanish which will serve the AHMS community outreach well. She is experienced in developing multi-tiered systems of support to address the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of all students; developing master schedules; implementing designated English Language Learner programs; partnering with community groups in support of schools, and creating school communities of support and collaboration. In 2016 she was selected ​Educator of the Year by the Auburn Chamber of Commerce and in 2014 she received the ​Quetzal Award for exemplary support to the Latino community by the Latino Leadership Council. Mary Ann Spitzer, principal of Adele Harrison, believes that Ms. Flint’s appointment to AHMS will “. . . bring a wealth of experiences and wisdom that can only serve to enhance the educational experience for all students.” #########
