Real World School for Certified Peer Specialists Or All the Additional Skills Needed to be a Successful Peer Support Are you a CPS that wants to find out what a CPS job looks like from day to day? Want to see if you have all the skills you might need? Or, are you an employer looking to provide additional training to recently hired individuals? The Real World School for Certified Peer Specialists (CPS) can help you with these things — and much more. Our two week school is designed to help individuals who are certified as peer supports build upon the skills learned in the two week certification class. Since 2005 WellSpan Philhaven has provided community based peer support services in Central Pennsylvania. We have developed a comprehensive training process that covers a wide base of skills CPSs will need to be successful. Our goal with this training to is provide support and guidance for other CPSs who are just starting out their career. Being Professional * Confidentiality Understanding Your Position * Resume Writing, Hiring Process Shadowing a CPS * Documentation/Writing a good IRP Ethics/Informed Consent * Tricky Issues Roles of CPSs— Will include field trips to talk with a CPSs working in these roles Meeting Medical Assistance Regulations—Billable time, documentation, etc. And so much more...
The first class will be held May 29th—June 9th from 8:00am—12:30pm. (Due to the holiday on May 28th, the first day of class will be from 8:00am—4:30pm.) The class is limited to 12 students. We will be meeting at our Harrisburg Office located at 2601 Herr Street, Harrisburg, PA. Cost per student is $225. This includes all materials and a morning snack.
