MEMORIAL OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF SALVADOR In addition to the place called Dungeon – an underground prison from the Colonial period – there are historical documents and a collection of 39 paintings of celebrities. MUSEUM OF MISERICÓRDIA Located in a building dating from the 17th century. MEMORIAL OF BAIANAS Presents stories and themes related to the craft of the Bahian women selling acarajé (a traditional food), recognized as a cultural patrimony of Brazil by Iphan. MODERN ART MUSEUM OF BAHIA (MAM-BA) Collection of paintings, engravings, photographs, designs, and sculptures by pioneers of Modernism and masters of the visual arts, such as Tarsila do Amaral, Portinari, Flávio de Carvalho, Di Cavalcanti, Rubem Valentim, Pancetti, Carybé, Mário Cravo, Sante Scaldaferri and others of international renown. ACCLAMATION PALACE Decorated with lovely framed panels, garlands, and bows painted by Presciliano Silva. Its collection consists of furniture in the D. CARLOS COSTA PINTO MUSEUM A building in the American colonial style, which houses a collection of decorative objects from the 17th to the 20th centuries, creating a valuable portrait of Colonial Bahia. MANOR OF THE ARTS Located in the old manor of the Bernardo Martins Catarino family, built in 1912. Today it contains a modern annex to host temporary expositions. Works by Auguste Rodin displayed in the garden: “Jean de Fiènnes Nude” (1886), “The Man Who Walks on the Column” (1877), “The Torso of Shade” (1901) and “The Martyr” (1885). MUSEUM OF THE THIRD ORDER OF CARMEL Collection consisting of furniture, images, and painting on rich medallions. In the sacristy, the only mosaic washbasin of Bahia. ANNA NERY NATIONAL NURSING MUSEUM The collection covers the practice of caring for the sick, and the social, economic, and religious influences that have affected the history and formation of nursing professionals. Among the pieces on display is a nurse’s uniform worn during the Second World War.
