FOUNDING STATEMENT The aim of Syria Solidarity UK is to provide political solidarity for the people of Syria and support their struggle for freedom. We want to work with all existing campaigns and progressive organisations to help build a movement that can assist the Syrian people in their struggle for a democratic and free Syria. We support the popular revolution against the Assad regime. We ask for real solidarity with the Syrian people. We oppose all support for Assad and the regime, which is unjustifiable in light of their crimes. We are critical of the countries who provide material support to the Assad regime, and  of those which have abandoned the Syrian people and the revolution. We are committed to the principle of international solidarity from below, which supports the struggles of the oppressed against their oppressors. We support the unconditional right of Syrian refugees to come to Britain;  and  humanitarian relief to the refugees, and to the internally displaced and besieged areas in Syria. We will campaign for  the release of all the detainees in Syrian jails. We support the right of Syrians to defend themselves from the regime of Assad and from ISIS. We support all efforts towards a political settlement for a democratic, pluralist and united Syria, where all Syrians can freely determine  their future with the support of the international community.
