Find Someone Who...

Directions Each printable asks students to “Find Someone Who..” The student has to find another child in the class who knows the answer to one of his/her questions. A classmate should only sign another student’s paper once. After students finish they can have a seat back at their desks and help answer questions for others still working.
1. Students circulate, with paper, amongst the classroom, keeping one hand raised until they find a partner. 2. Each student “high-fives” his/her new partner. 3. The first partner asks a question. The second student writes his/her answer. The first partner gives them a “thumbs-up” if he/she is correct. Then, the second student writes his/her name by his answer. Partners switch roles. 4. Once both students have answered one question they take their own papers and begin to mix around the room again-looking for a new partner. ** Students may only have another child sign their paper once. Quick Management Tips: 1. Instead of having all of the students walk around the classroom at a time...I choose half of my students to walk around and the other half sit at their desks/tables. Since it is typically split exactly in half, I tell students if they are standing they need to choose someone who is sitting and vice versa. 2. Students raise their hands as they are looking for a partner and “high-five” when they find their partner. This makes it easier to know who is still in need of a partner. 3. There is no waiting for a partner. Students need to keep walking and find one-they may not form a line. 4. Remind students they may only have another student’s name on his/her paper once. 5. If a student needs help with a question we say “Tip, tip, tell.” Give a tip, let the student try the problem. If the student still doesn’t understand try giving one more tip. Then, if the child is still struggling tell them the answer (but the student may not write his/her name by that problem.)
