Comments/Evaluation: (include review sources here) Ferraris presents a fantastic adventure to her readers. She develops a universe of amazing planets, strange creatures and out-of-this-world characters. The book develops slowly but, if you stick with it, you get caught up in the fantastic universe that Emma encounters. This book seems to introduce the characters and places and then leaves you hanging for a conclusion to the adventure. The next installment had better be on the way soon!
Annotation: On the night Emma Garton’s parents are kidnapped, she realizes there is more to their lives than she has been told. She finds a box hidden by her father that contains a special amulet and it leads her to an adventure in outer space. Finding that her mother is a famous space pirate and her father is her helper and protector is a shock to Emma and she must step up and conquer her fears in order to fight for all of their lives. She and her best friend, Herbie, who accompanies her on the adventure, encounter fantastical creatures, nasty villains and discover their own strengths.
