Gas Law Comic Pick one of the gas laws and research it in depth. Learn about the scientist who first investigated the law, what the law tells us, its implications, some examples of it in real life, etc. You may choose to research one of the laws we have talked about (Boyle’s, Charles’, Gay-Lussac’s) of, if you’re feeling extra motivated, introduce yourself to one of the laws we have yet to talk about (Dalton’s, Henry’s, combined, or ideal gas laws). After doing your research, create an online comic at http://www.makebeliefscomixs.com/Comix/ to demonstrate your knowledge of the law. You are also welcome to use another animation or comic-creating websites that you may be familiar with (or maybe even create your own piece of art by hand). Be creative! For this activity you will also need to include a fact sheet on the law you choose in which your should include the following information: • Information about the scientist: Answer the 5-W’s: Who is the scientist who developed this law (give a short bibliography of him complete with dates and useful information)? What law did he develop? Where did he live and work? When did he do his investigations (give some historical context… what was going on when he was living that may have influenced him?)? Why did he decide to be a scientist or decide to investigate and research the properties of gases? • Variables: In this law was variables do you manipulate? What variables remain constant? What is the relationship between the variables discussed and what formula can we use to solve the problems? • Relevance: Why do we care about this law? How does it affect us and the human body or things that we use every day? What would happen if gases did not act in this way? • Examples: Give some relevant examples and applications of this law in the world. • Resources: Include a list of at least 3 resources that you used throughout this project.
