1. Imagine that you got a chance to meet W.B.Yeats. While narrating his experience in the Lake Isle of Innisfree, he compares his life in city with that in the Island. Write two sentences of comparison, using expressions like where as, while etc. (2 scores) 2. Imagine that Langston Hughes wants to launch a campaign against racial discrimination. He asks you to prepare a few slogans to be used in the campaign. Write two slogans. (2 scores) 3. Imagine that a debate on the topic “English should be made the only medium of instruction in the classroom” was conducted in your class. The main points raised by the students who spoke in favour of the topic are given below: *English is the global language *English can be learned better if it is made the only medium of instruction *English knowledge helps us to score higher grades *English knowledge makes us better human beings You want to argue against the topic. Write Four arguments against the topic. (4 scores) 4. Mrs. Salmon witnessed the death of one of the twins after the trial. She could not forget the look and cry of the other Adams. She wrote her diary that night. What would have she written in her diary? Write the diary entry that she made that night. (5 scores) 5. You are the Secretary of the Arts Club of your school. The club has decided to organize the show of the play ‘The Never Never Nest’. Prepare a Notice of the programme. (5 scores) 6. Your School has organised a two days trip to Wayanad. You were also a part of the trip. Your Principal asked you to prepare a travelogue of the trip, to be published in the school magazine. Prepare the travelogue. The itinerary of the journey is given below. DAY ONE 7.30 am : Visit at Thirunelly Temple. 9.00 a m : Breakfast 10.00 a m : Visit at Kuruva Dweep. 1.30 p m : Lunch, Mananthavady. 2.30 p m : Pazhassi Tomb, Mananthavady. 3.30 p m : Visit at Banasura Sagar Dam 5.30 p m : Watching a movie at a theatre DAY TWO 7.30 a m : Breakfast at, Kalpetta. 8.00 a m : Trecking at Edakkal Caves. 11.00am : visit at Muthanga Wild Life Sanctuary 1.30 p m : Lunch. 2.30 p m : at Soochippara Waterfalls. 4.30 p m : Visit at Pookkode Lake. 5.30 p m : Boating in the Lake. 6.30 p m : Return Home. . Attempt an essay, in not more than 100 words, tracing the Black boy’s process of growing up with special reference to the poem ‘As I Grew Older’ (7 scores) 10. A few traits of character are given in the box below. Choose the characters that are appropriate to describe the character of Darcy and write a character sketch of him in about 80 words.
