Is Tummy Bloating an Issue? Healthy tip for those of you that occasionally or frequently experiencing bloating and that gassy tummy feeling. Don’t reach for the Tums or Rolaids. Try increasing your water intake. Better yet avoid foods that cause the issue in the first place. Just in case you can’t/wont avoid those foods, try crystallized ginger before a meal ( I get mine from WholeFood as the size and quality is better) as well as Moroccan and or Peppermint Mint tea with or after a meal (go for the non tea bag type). Also don’t forget your Probiotics. Thanks Dr. Oz Also, try pineapple 15 or more minutes before a meal to increase the digestive enzymes in your stomach to better break down those hard to digest proteins that we encounter either because we are eating against our blood type or are just allergic to.

Healthy Cooking This Month I’ve asked a good friend of mine and Caterer Extraordinaire Emily Vogt who I have had the pleasure of experiencing her cooking since 2007, to share a recipe with us. Emily what do you have for us? My favorite comfort food...delicious & nutritious and super easy & quick: Coconut Miso Soup Ingredients: 4 cups water 1 14-oz can light coconut milk 6 tbsp Miso Master Chickpea miso (Organic, Soy free, Kosher) 2 large portabella mushrooms, sliced very thin 1 chopped yam boiled 2 carrots chopped 1/2 bunch of kale chopped finely 1 tsp ground black pepper 1/2 cup of seaweed, cut in pieces 1 cup brown rice, cooked 1 inch fresh ginger grated 2 cloves garlic 1 tsp oil 3 chopped green onions
to caramelize just slightly. Add the ginger and stir in: Add 2 carrots chopped and pre-boiled yams. Add the water and then the seaweed, if using. Let it come to a boil. Simmer for about 2-3 minutes. Add the cooked brown rice and stir in. Meanwhile, mix the miso paste in the coconut milk, adding some of the warm soup stock if necessary, until no lumps remain. Take the soup off the heat, and then add the miso-coconut mixture to it.
Add chopped kale at the end and serve hot. You could use any miso that you have on hand I like to add carrots, yams, and hearty greens but the Chickpea miso is medium sweet & chopped. Cook the chopped yams or potatoes in YUM! a separate pot. Set aside. Thank you Emily for sharing this delicious recipe Heat oil in a soup pot. Add the minced garlic & with us. I’m certain my reader will enjoy it as sliced mushrooms and saute until they begin much as I have.
PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT IS THIS YOU? Someone looking to lose weight but is focused on food Anyone who has a difficult time controlling appetite and portion size Someone needing a boost in metabolism An individual looking to break through the weight loss plateau THE ISSUE: Managing appetite can be a key component in weight gain and weight loss, and it's an issue many struggle with. As our focus on food and portion sizes continues to grow, so does the obesity rate.* Obesity affects more than 30 percent of U.S. adults, more than double the percentage 30 years ago. + The more we eat, the more we crave, which can lead to overeating. Poor choices in diet, including the nutritional quality of food and lack of exercise, result in a slower metabolism. This cycle can ultimately affect how you feel. Even for those who are exercising and making better choices in diet, reaching a plateau can be an issue. The body can adapt to the same workout regimen and the same diet over time.+ .
