Gauge: 6 sts = 1 inch in stockinette Terms: PM = place marker MM = move marker from left needle to right needle This top is made in one piece in the round with no short rows needed to create the armholes.
Top: beginning at the bottom edge, CO 32 and divide evenly over four dpns (eight sts per needle) 1-4: (K1, P1) ribbing 5-10: (K3, P1) twice on each needle 11: Bind off four sts, (K3, P1) three times; bind off four sts, (K3, P1) three times. PM after last st to mark the true end of the row. CO eight sts on the fourth needle. 12: Needle 1: (K3, P1) Needle 2: (K3, P1) twice, CO eight sts. Needle 3: (K3, P1) Needle 4: (K3, P1) twice, MM, (K3, P1) twice across the cast on stitches. 13: Needle 1: (K3, P1) Needle 2: (K3, P1) twice, (K3, P1) twice across the cast on stitches. Needle 3: (K3, P1) Needle 4: (K3, P1), K2, Kdec, MM, (K2, Kdec) twice. 14: Needle 1: (K3, P1) Needle 2: (K3, P1), K2, Kdec, (K2, Kdec) twice. Bind off knitwise. Fold in half and take two small stitched from center front to center back to define the leg openings.
