Bangladeshi company Green & Red Technologies (G&R) is dedicated to building a better Internet for Bangladesh. This is why it’s named after the country’s national colors. G&R connects advertisers and local-language website owners to help grow the Bangladesh web. Before the G&R ad network existed, Bangla-language websites had no way to monetize and no incentive to attract users. Many local advertisers simply didn’t understand that much of their potential target market was online. Even if they did, the only way to buy online ads was to deal directly with the individual websites where they wanted to advertise. This was incredibly time-consuming and did not guarantee results. Google has been central to the G&R story. The company’s management team met through a Google Business Group, and Google for Work is the main platform they use to collaborate. AdWords is key to managing campaigns for clients and promoting G&R’s own services. Analytics builds profiles of visitors to the G&R site and all ad campaigns are set up with Google Analytics URL tags.

As the Internet grows in Bangladesh, so does G&R. The 3,000-plus sites on the company’s display network together receive more than 20 million ad requests every month. G&R pays out almost US$30,000 each month, typically to SMBs. As part of its mission, the company is actively involved in promoting digital marketing and entrepreneurship through trainings and outreach. CEO Nash Islam explains, “We believe a better Bangladesh Internet makes a better Bangladesh society. The Internet is fundamental for improvements in freedom, democratization and education.
