2014 Program & Event Guide

G P R D

Dear Greencastle Residents: I want to begin with a hearty “Thank you” to the many volunteers who made 2013 a successful year for the department; and those that have set out to make 2014 the best year, yet! Many volunteers have come forward to help create new facilities and organize activities for the citizens of the Greater Greencastle area. In this guide we’ve outlined those activities along with a variety of programs that we are sure you will find enjoyable. Again, this upcoming year will be an exciting one as we will see improvements at Robe-Ann Park, Big Walnut Sports Park, and Jaycee Park. Through a Land & Water Conservation Grant matched by a very generous donation from the Greencastle Civic League, we will construct a Splash Park addition to the Greencastle Aquatics Center in Robe-Ann Park. A second LWCF Grant, will provide improvements at Big Walnut Sports Park, which include a dog park, ADA upgrades at the adult softball field, a new parking lot, and 9 more disc golf tees and baskets. The Jaycee Park Mountain Bike Trail Committee will finish the reconstruction of the once popular mountain cycling, hiking and running trails throughout Jaycee Park. I want to thank the Mayor, Common Council, Board of Park Commissioners, City Clerk/Treasurer, and residents of the City of Greencastle for their continued commitment toward providing a wide assortment of positive leisure activities for our citizens. Without their support and your participation, we couldn’t provide quality recreational programs and park facilities for your enjoyment! Please review and enjoy this brochure; and again, thank you for your continued support!
