HACC THEATRE NEW WORKS FESTIVAL SUBMISSION INFORMATION FOR ONE-ACTS

WHAT IS THE NEW WORKS FESTIVAL? HACC Theatre recognizes the creative talent of playwrights within the Central PA community that largely remains untapped. In an effort to give greater voice to these playwrights, the New Works Festival at HACC will produce two one-act plays as part of the current season. These plays will be chosen by a jury of writers comprising directors, actors, designers, technicians, and playwrights. The productions will be fully supported through the efforts of professional directors and designers, with performances open to the public. _____________________________________________________________________________________

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: 2017 Playwrights are asked to carefully review the following rules of submission:  Playwright submission only (no agent submission)   Playwrights must be at least 18 years of age and residents of the following counties at the time of submission:  Adams  Cumberland  Dauphin  Franklin  Juniata  Lancaster  Lebanon  Northumberland  Perry  Schuylkill  Snyder  York  All work must be original, with no previous commercial productions. Scripts that have received staged readings, university productions, workshops or other performances for a non-paying audience in the past may be submitted.  Script must be predominantly in English  Scripts must be one-acts that are void of intermission, although scene changes are acceptable.  Work may be submitted in any genre, although musicals will not be accepted at this time.  All submissions are to be made via email to [email protected]

 In the subject line, please state the following: HACC Theatre New Works Submission  Include the following information within the body of the e-mail by copying and pasting:  Your full name  Your phone number  Your mailing address (street address, city, state, zip code)  How did you hear about the competition?  Title of play  Performance history (if any)  4-6 line synopsis  State the number of characters, and the gender of the characters (if relevant)   Send the following as an attachment:  One ELECTRONIC COPY of your script as a PDF. Work that is not sent as a PDF will not be considered.  The ELECTRONIC COPY of the script must have numbered pages  Include a title page  Script must use Samuel French formatting standards www.Samuelfrench.com/submissions  Please OMIT your name from the script! Your play will be submitted to reviewers anonymously to maintain integrity of the review process.  Plays must be submitted prior to August 1st. Exceptions will not be granted.  Submission of a play grants HACC Theatre full rights to produce the work without royalties or payment to the playwrights.  Two one-acts will be chosen by October 1, 2017, and each will be fully produced as part of HACC Theatre’s 2017-2018 season. Performance dates are February 22nd-25th in the Studio Theatre, Rose Lehrman Arts Center, Harrisburg Campus.  Submitted plays will not be returned to the writer.  Unfortunately, due to the number of submissions, analysis of submitted work and feedback will not be given.
