ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The two days national conference on “Happiness @ Workplace” will be inaugurated by His Holiness Poojya Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji, the key note speaker of this conference. The conference is about training our minds to be more focused, to see with clarity, to have spaciousness for creativity and to feel connected. The conference is an interface between the Academia, Corporate world and Spirituality by exchange of ideas and skills in simplifying the work life of business leaders and also helping in accomplishment of their objectives. Transformation can begin in the workplace when organizations open themselves to the cultivation of their own employees’ spirituality. This would mean addressing employees as whole human beings in terms of their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs. Lifting up the whole person in the workplace should not be seen entirely as an altruistic act. Research has demonstrated that by addressing the spiritual side of human experience organizations help reduce stress, enhance creativity, and improve problem solving. By focusing on the spiritual qualities of meaningfulness and joy at work, organizations have found increased job satisfaction, enhanced job involvement, organizational identification, and work rewards satisfaction, greater honesty, trust, and commitment and even improved work performance. It’s important to organizations for employees to be happy, and not just for the employees themselves. Despite a large body of positive psychological research into the relationship between happiness and productivity, happiness at work has traditionally been

seen as a potential by-product of positive outcomes at work, rather than a pathway to business success. Maintaining a level of happiness at work has become more significant and relevant due to the intensification of work caused by economic uncertainty and increase in competition. Nowadays, it is viewed by a growing number of scholars and senior executives as one of the major sources of positive outcomes in the workplace. In hosting this conference, the primary objective is to promote an exchange of opinions about the challenges and opportunities in the workplace and how happiness and spirituality which includes yoga and meditation can be useful as a medium for leading a healthy and balanced work life. In particular discussions we will focus on possibilities to improve the efficiency of every individual by learning the techniques and practices to overcome from stressful and monotonous work life.
