"The wltole purpose of educution is tts turn mirrors into windows." S-vdney J. Harris

The technological and scientific revolution is one of the defining features of modern human historir.

We cannot imagine today's world without the technologies of communication via mobile and cordless phones, tablets, and cornputers. Educational systems in many countries throughout the world use these technologies for pedagogic purposes, to adapi to the learning processes of the 2l st century.

As such, acquaintance with ICT and iechnology as elements of human culture should be

the

prerogative and goal of every individual, independent of his or her occupational needs. While ICT and technology are obviously significant from an economic perspective, they also form an integral part of a broad-based liberal education.

it is evident that Education fbr Technology and the use of ICT in Education must keep up-to-date on developments in dilferent global aspects. In light of the fact that a modern technological society is subject to rapid and fiequent changes, an essentiai part of today's general education must enable students to be flexible and adaptable.

lnstant access to knowledge has opened new windows of opportllnity for students, teachers, and the public alike. Communication has become much laster in the global world, and this demands that society keeps pace with advances and pro-eress. Under these circumstances, the edr, rcational system must reassess its methodologies, tl-reories, and paradigrns in order to be able to meet the needs of the modem r,vorld.

This brief review indicates that two issues are fundamental to the use of ICT in Education and Technology Education:

l.

What contribution can Education for ICT and Technology make with respect to preparing students for their personal and working lives? 2. What strategies can \,ve employ in order to enhance the development and adaptation of ICT r,vith regard to education in general, the propagation of ICT, and the use of technology within the educational system? The Israeli Ministry of Education has concluded with respect to these tr,vo questions that:

1.ICT is set to become the medium of education forthe near future and will change many of the educational system during the 2lst century.

aspects

2. The goals or"rtlined above should be introduced into the educational system as part of a national plan based on a hoiistic and systematic understanding of the role of technology. and ICT in education pedagogies.

The pedagogy is tailored and acljusted to the diversity of students in order to promote the ecir-rcational processes. The education of ICT as a tool and technology education has a prominent role in the professional developrnent oieducators and the very core of the str-rdent's knowledge and skilts. The course designed by The Aharon Ofri MASHAV International Educational Training Center is aimed at Directors of education deparlments at Ministries of Education, Principals and Supervisors

secondary schoois, Educational staff at schools, Training institutions, whose responsibilities involve the allocation of resources and development of educational policies. It is based on the vast experience the Israeli education system has acquired over the years in working towards an educational environment contributive to sustainability and globalization.

"The greot ctfficulty in educct{ion is to gef experience aut aJ'itleas". George Santayanct

In response to emerging challenges such as globalization. regional integration, demographic shifts, technological advances, environmental concerns, as well as persistent inequalities and youth unemployment many countries around the world are reinforcing the capacity of their education and training systems to respond to the pressures of globalization and the challenges of the knowledge society. Then there is an expected need to replace or expand existing skills for a developing future and a need to create jobs opportunities, in particular for youth . The purpose of technical and vocational education and training (TVET)1 is to provide knowledge and skills required in the world of work. TVET systems tend to vary from country to country and reflect specific national socio-economic situations. Effective TVET programs must be embedded in the socio-economic context, encompass various policy areas and be sufficiently flexible to ensure graduates, successful transition from school to work. Skills are vital for poverty reduction, economic recovery and sustainabie development. Therefore, policy attention to technical and vocational education and training GVET) is increasing r.vorldwide.

In light of the 2030 Educational Agenda, vocational stLrdies development needs a fundamental rethink and transformation to respond to the current and future skills requirements, including lor example transversal and entrepreneurial skills in the education training policies and strategies. TVET thus equips people not only with vocational skilis, but also with a broad range of knowledge, skills and attitudes recognized as indispensable for meaningful participation in work and life. Teaching and learning aids are constantly being developed and presented in almost every convention on vocationai training. The translation of this innovation into the educational process is a very hard task, especially when it concerns youth programs like Apprenticeship and Industrial Vocational schools .

ln Israel, TEVT takes two distinct forms - technological-scientific education and the vocationaltechnical training. The scientific and technologicai tracks constantly modernized through Pedagogical Vocational Development Training Centres, which promote educational innovation upto-date educational technologies and the acquisition of independent study skitls in an e-learning

environment.
