INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR PARENTS AWAILING HOSTEL FACILITIES FOR THEIR WARDS Registration : Registration for the hostel can be done by paying the annual hostel fees (for the twelve months) made in advance. This amount is not refundable if the student is withdrawn for any reason during the session. All parents are also requested to deposit Rs. 2000/- ( Rupees Two thousand only) as pocket money every month for their wards. Account of this amount will be sent every month for the information of parents. Standing rules and regulations The students should report to the hostel warden a day in advance latest by 6:00 p.m of the regular day of opening of the school by 6:00 p.m. This time is needed for settling down. Medical Record :To be completed as per the format attached and to be submitted to the warden on the day of arrival. Guardian/ family :Form to be completed as per the format attached and handed over to the warden at the time of arrival. Visits :No visits are allowed during the school working hours or any other day which is not been declared as a visit day for the parents. In exceptional cases and in emergencies parents / guardians may visit their wards after obtaining written permission from the Manager- Administration. Parents are not permitted to visit the hostel children too often and are requested not to convert their business trips to Ahmedabad into children visit trips. Parents can visit only on specified dates and time. Telephone calls and Home Contact : Students are not permitted to make calls to the parents/ guardians. Frequent telephone calls from the parents are discouraged. Parents may call up their wards twice a week i.e on Sundays and holidays between 9:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m or 7:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m and on Wednesday between 7:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. No mobile phones are permitted with the students. Call time is restricted to 3 minutes. Parcels: Parcels of any kind are not accepted in the school. Children should not be given any type of eatables or snacks. Discipline : A student may be expelled from the school as per the rules and regulations of the institution and no refunds made in cases of gross indiscipline,. Great Emphasis is given to maintenance of discipline and development of self discipline in the school. Corporal punishments are banned. Parents/ Guardians are not permitted to walk directly into the dormitory or hostel area. No other family friends or relatives are permitted to enter the hostel premises. Contd…2

--- 2 --Smoking :Smoking or consumption of tobacco, alcohol or drugs is strictly banned for the students, parents, guardians and visitors in the school premises. Money / Tucks and contraband items: Eatables, tucks, chewing gum, gel and costly items are banned. All costly items like camera, tape recorder, watches etc may be deposited with the warden. Pocket money for purchase of any requirements by the students should be deposited with the warden and proper receipt obtained. Parents are requested not to provide any type of edible items as all care is taken by the school regarding their regular meals. Gifts :Giving money or gifts to any staff member is prohibited. Religious Education :The students live in a secular atmosphere and they are free to practice their own beliefs. Food :A well balanced wholesome and nutritious diet ( only vegetarian) is provided to children. The visiting parents are welcome to scrutinize the menu displayed. Special items will only be provided as per the advice of the medical officer or on request of parents for students under special medical conditions. Items :List of items to be brought by the students is also enclosed. Ensure that all the items are given to your ward. No gold items or cash to be handed over to the child. Uniforms and Casuals :The students will be in the school uniform on all working days during the school hours. They can be in casuals after 4:15 pm. Outing, Excursions, Cinema etc. :These will be organized centrally by the warden.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

It is absolutely essential for parents to prepare their wards mentally to accept and to adjust to a boarding school life, away from parents, grand parents and siblings. The child must be told as often as possible that he is going to a boarding school to enjoy an independent life, away from home with his own age group. The child must be trained to develop independent habits concerning most activities of life i.e sleeping habit, toilet habit, food habit and so on. He should be prompted all times well in advance just to encourage, accepting a life different to his own, at a later date in a boarding school. This is very important to reduce any shock that your ward may encounter if he is forced into accepting a boarding school life without free will. Discipline, consideration for others, sharing things with dormitory mates and school mates etc. are all part of a boarding school life which your ward(s) must be prepared to accept. Life-style is different in an educational institution compared to his own home. We suggest you start preparing your ward mentally soon after registering his name with us. Show your ward the school publications and the school prior to admission, to make him feel confident before joining us. We believe that mental preparation allows a child to settle down quickly in a new environment. This will also enable you to avoid, as far as possible, any possible disappointments.

I. It is understood that all the students of JG International School, Ahmedabad are strictly forbidden from smoking or possession of cigarettes/ tobacco products, use or possession of drugs, use or possession of alcoholic beverages, possession of pornographic material and possession of unauthorized cash, and that the school reserves the right to expel my ward at any time, including the final external examination period if he/she is found guilty of any such offence. II. It is further understood that the school reserves the right to expel my ward at any time, including the final external examination period, for indulging in any act of misconduct / indiscipline involving any other students. III. The school will not be held responsible for any injury suffered by my ward or for his/her loss of life during activities such as games, sports, expedition and camping. IV. I hereby give my consent for any emergency medical treatment and declare that the school authorities will not be held responsible for any adverse consequences thereof. Contd…2

V. The school will not undertake to make any travel arrangements for my ward if the request for the same is made after the date stipulated in the school circulars / calendar / diary. VI. I also agree that the School has full authority to detail my ward to undergo any training or activity during or after the academic session. I have no objection for such detainments. VII. I understand that the school rules and regulations are subject to change from time to time and agree to abide by the rules and regulations.
