Our Aims At Greensward Academy we believe that clear lines of communication are very important to ensure we constantly safeguard our students and effectively communicate their learning. During the last few years we have made every effort to improve our lines of communication with parents via our weekly newsletter, improved website, parent email system and Twitter. However as part of our aim “to make our best better” we have also produced this guide. Together with our customer charter (below) we hope that having read this booklet you will feel confident about whom you need to contact at Greensward Academy for whatever reason. Customer Charter Greensward Academy will ensure that everyone who works with and for us is treated professionally and courteously, working to build and maintain cordial, long-term relationships. Greensward Academy will respond to customers’ individual and collective needs in a straightforward and helpful way. All members of Greensward Academy community will understand the high standards that we can achieve, ensure that our customers know what these are and check regularly that they are being both maintained and extended. Members of Greensward Academy will share information, ensuring that our customers know who to talk to, involving them in decisions and making sure that they feel welcome to the Academy. The Academy will address and attempt to resolve any complaints received as quickly as possible, ensuring that customers receive a service that reflects the quality and high standards that are synonymous with Greensward Academy and which are made explicit in the Academy aims. A copy of the Complaints procedure is available, on request, from the main office. We aspire to deliver all that we promise.

If your concern is regarding SEN provision or you need to speak to the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, then please contact Mr S Mothersole (SENDCo).
Contacting Your Child’s Form Tutor or Subject Teacher By phone: Phone the academy, give your name, your child’s name and the reason for your call. This will be passed to the person requested and you will receive a response within 24 hours. By Email: Please use the academy contact address –
[email protected] Your message will be forwarded to the member of staff concerned and you will receive a response within 24 hours. If this is not the case, then please send a further email to the above address and a follow up will be undertaken by the Principal’s EA. By Letter: Please address your letter to the member of staff concerned. If you would like a response by phone, please ask for this in your letter and you will receive a response within 24 hours. According to Greensward Academy’s customer care policy, acknowledgement of your letter will occur within three working days. However, if a more detailed reply is required with the need for further investigation into the contents, then where possible a reply should be received within a further five working days. If a reply is likely to take longer, then a realistic time scale will be stated in the letter of acknowledgement. In Person: Please call into Reception, give your name, your child’s name and who you would like to see. Greensward Academy will do all it can to accommodate your request at the time, but please remember that the majority of teachers will be unavailable from 8.30am until 3.00pm as they will be teaching classes. Unfortunately teachers are not able to leave classes unattended to meet with anyone who does not have an appointment. If the member of staff you would like to see is not available, then your details will be taken and you will be contacted as soon as is possible. For reasons of safety, you are requested to always report to Reception and not to walk around the academy site unannounced.
Your Opinion Matters We are always seeking new ways to make our best better so if you have any suggestions as to how we can improve in any way, including our communication with parents, then let Mrs Wheeler (Principal’s EA) know. If you would like to thank or congratulate a member of staff on any aspect of your child’s education, then please feel free to do so. If you have followed the lines of communication in this booklet and are still unhappy with the result, please contact Mrs S Wheeler.
FAQs Can school help with a problem outside the academy? Yes if it affects your child’s well being. Depending on the situation we can contact outside support agencies. I have concerns about MSN/Facebook/Internet Chat Rooms, etc, what should I do? Please contact your child’s Form Tutor or Head of Year who may be able to help. I think my child needs extra help/has special needs. Contact Mr S Mothersole, SENDCo Something is wrong but I don’t know what. My child’s behaviour has changed but I don’t know why. Please contact your child’s Form Tutor. I would like to know how to help my child with their homework. Contact the class or subject teacher and they can go through the piece of work with you. How can I find out how my child is progressing in between reports? Contact your child’s Form Tutor who will be able to discuss this with you.
