How to show remote content in email messages using Thunderbird By default, Thunderbird blocks remote content in email messages. The email in the screen clipping below was originally sent with four HTML image references in the email signature. They do not appear in the email on the receiving end, but the pop-up banner gives the user the option to show them. When you see this banner, click on the button for Options.

You can select the option for “Show remote content in this message”, but that will only do so for the current message.

Another option is to allow content from a single trusted site, like cabrillo.edu. However, if there are additional origins, such as in this example where there are three, then not all of the remote content will appear.

If you would like to allow remote content for the current and all future messages, then select the option for “Edit remote content options”.

Check the box next to “Allow remote content in messages”.

Click OK to save the settings.

The remote content will now appear in the message.
