High Definition Network Digital Signage Player MP-1080N ICat-3 User Guide

To support all the new features (1080P HD Video and resizable multi-zone) of the MP-1080N, the icat-3 has a new user interface and operation. Below is a user guide of how to use icat-3.
Account: You will receive a user ID and password. In general, the User ID and password is the same, but the password can be changed under “Account” after you log in. System: Set up DST (Daylight Saving Time) schedule range, your local time zone and city code for weather. Please visit www.weather.yahoo.com to check your local city code.
Step 1: Create Group
Click on and save.
: A new group edit window will appear (please see below [left] for an example). Enter the group name
Download Time is to set up when to download content for this group’s players. You can leave it blank if there is no desired time and this can be updated later, if necessary. Player will download new content, anytime there is a new playlist/schedule published, if no selection is chosen for “Download Time”.
Step 2: Create Player
: A new player edit window will appear above (right). Enter a player name, then select its group and Click on save. City code is optional for local weather.
After saved, a player ame will appear on the player list with its 10 digit iCAT ID. This unique serial number is associated with this player for future operation. Just enter the 10 digits in the player’s setup under the “Device” page. Enternumber key 1 6 1 3 4 4 2 6 7 7 and use arrow keys to move field.
Step 3: Upload media content
3 types of content can be uploaded to server and saved in the media library for future use. Supporting formats are as follows:
HD Video 1080p: MPEG1、MPEG2、MPEG4、H.264、WMV Playback Format
File extension: (mpg/mpeg/mp4/divx/mkv/mov) SD Video 480p: MPEG2, MPEG4, AVI Images: JPEG、BMP、PNG
and the following upload window will appear. Browse your image files from your local PC. All Clock on images will be uploaded one by one until all files selected are uploaded.
Media files can be displayed in “List” or “Grid” layout. On the top row the filter function that allows users to find or sort data.
Video upload is the same as image uploads, except for videos. RSS Upload RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio and video—in a standardized format. The MP-1080N will display the RSS ticker overlapping the screen (foreground). Several RSS URL’s can be programmed for the playlist to choose from. Step 4: Create Template The MP-1080N supports multiple zones including 1 video zone and up to 3 image zones. A Weather zone and Time/Date zone are considered OSD ( On Screen Display) which can be overlapped on any video or image zone or wallpaper. The template is the screen layout for defining each zone’s size and position. Icat-3 provides a standard system template and custom template. Users have the ability to define their own template. Click on
to create a new custom template. It will pop up a name and screen window mode.
Under “Screen” choose Landscape (1920 x 1080) or Portrait (1080 x 1920) mode, then save. A blank template will appear:
The icons on the top row are as follows: Wallpaper, video zone, image 1/2/3 zone, RSS/Text, Date/Time and Weather zone. -
Wallpaper is a jpeg file that will occupy the entire screen. It can be left empty for a blank background or an image can be selected to occupy the background.

Video zone is one area for a video file or jpeg file. Minimum size is 640 x 480 and maximum size is 1920 x 1080.

Image zone has 3 zones and only jpeg images are allowed. Minimum size is 320 x 200 and maximum size is 1920 x 1080 pixels. Please note: Icat software will convert jpeg into yuv format when publishing.

Weather zone’s maximum size is 512 x 248 pixels. It can be overlapped on the video or image zone. Please note: The video zone is required and the rest of the zones can be optional when creating a template.
After all the zones are resized and placed, they can be saved for future use. Please see examples below: #1: Portrait (Video, 3 Image zones and RSS)
Step 5: Create a Playlist A playlist is a sequence of media files that are assigned to each zone. Click on
to create a new playlist.
Define the name of the playlist, then choose a template (System or User) and save. Each zone icon is located on the top row. Click each one and select video or image file. Save will save the current selections chosen. “Publish” makes the playlist available for the MP-1080N to download. To complete the playlist a schedule is still needs to be set up. Please proceed to Step 6 on instructions.

Step 6: Creating a Schedule Schedule is to predefine a time range for selected playlists to play back. Player will playback according to the schedule/playlist. Click on
to create a new schedule file. Enter a schedule name and click on add.
There are three things to enter here besides the schedule name and description. 1) Add group is to choose which group and its players will be added to this list. 2) Add playlist is to add a pre-defined playlist 3) Define date range, time range and week days. After these 3 steps, save and publish this schedule for the player.

Optional Settings: Download Time Download Time is to define a time range when you want the player to download content in the background during playback. Click on to create a new “Download Time”. Multiple Name and Time Ranges can be selected. After the initial Name and Time Range is selected, another one can be created by selecting the “+” symbol, then select start and end time and click save. ( left picture below) Please note: End time must be later than start time. Download time file can be selected in the Group edit or New Group creation (right picture).

Optional Settings: Folder and FTP Folder lets the user create a folder to manage media files. Click on to create a new “Folder”, then enter desired name and save (left picture). Folder name can be selected from pull-down menu on top row of media library or playlist (right picture).

Optional Settings: FTP Ftp allows the user to create and FTP server that can browse media files for a playlist. The MP-1080N will download the FTP media files from the selected FTP server instead of the icat-3 server. All files from the FTP server can only be videos for the video zone and not for the image zone. Click on
to create a new “FTP” property
Profile: FTP Name Server: FTP Address Port: FTP port PASV: Passive Mode Account: FTP User ID Password: Password for User ID Folder name can be selected from a pull-down menu on the top row of media library or playlist.
FTP files can be browsed and selected in the “Upload” section of the Media Library. 1) Go to FTP site pull-down menu to select the pre-defined FTP profile name 2) Click on “Connect” and FTP files will appear on the right window 3) Check files that want to be saved into media library
