Research Assistant in CACILM Knowledge Management Project National Recruited Staff

Main purpose of the position The Research Assistant will be responsible for providing assistance in implementation of project components related to knowledge synthesis and generation, and dissemination activities. He/She will provide direct research support to the Project Coordinator.

Main responsibilities
Undertaking activities related to knowledge synthesis and generation component of the project in close liaison with project partners and stakeholders; Collecting, managing and summarizing data on SLM and demonstration sites; Contribute to writing and editing updates for the project website and contribute information to other web resources as required; including collection of background documents and organizing them in the information platform, including meta tagging (key words) and short English summaries of each document; When assigned liaise with project partners and stakeholders for project activities to receive regular updates on their work, ensure timely organization and facilitation of tasks relating to project implementation; Translate short materials into English/Russian, and coordinate and check translation of longer documents by external suppliers; Participate in the development, regular revision and updating of the information system (repository) so progress with each project component can be monitored, problems identified and its impact assessed accurately; Assist in preparing evaluation reports, annual project reports, and update projects files; Conduct other tasks deemed as necessary within the framework of the project and the organization
Education, qualifications and experience Master’s degree in natural resources management, agriculture or related disciplines; At least 5 years of professional experience, preferably in providing assistance with project coordination and implementation; experience in international organizations would be an advantage;

Experience in building effective communication tools. Good understanding of the wider context of natural resources, agriculture, socio-economic development and related issues is the Central Asian context; Fluency in written and spoken English and Russian is essential (required) and one of the Central Asian languages (preferred); Ability to write in a clear and concise manner and to communicate effectively verbally; Strong interpersonal skills and flexibility, responsibility, integrity, team work, self-motivated, preparedness to work off-time; Excellent computer literacy with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook, PowerPoint and/or Access.
Terms of appointment, salary and benefits The initial contract will be for 3 years, of which the first year will be probationary period. Subsequent employment is decided based on the merit and productivity of the staff member, and continued need for the position.
