Minutes Council Members in Attendance: Chair – Kelly Decker Vice Chair – Suzanne Nace Treasurer – Darlene Ensenat Secretary - Karen Lefebvre Region II – Jeffrey Palmer Region IV- Larry Barnett Mission of IDP To promote greater understanding and awareness of the values of the Deaf Community as well as the skills, dedication and sensibilities that interpreters with Deaf parents continue to offer to the interpreting profession. ********************************************************************************************************* Agenda and teleconference information mailed to participants prior to meeting.

2015 National Conference – New Orleans ➢ IDP Pre-Conference Workshop: Sue Nace, Vice Chair and Jeffrey Palmer, Region II, Coordinators On Friday, August 7th, 1:00-5:00pm, at the Hyatt Regency, Mary Thurman, PhD, CSC , Gallaudet University Department of Linguistics, will be presenting on “Depiction and Proficiency in ASL”, 0.4 Ceus, Virginia RID Sponsor, Early Bird Rates: 5/1-6/15 $40., 6/16-7/30-$50. ; at the Door $65.00 Space will be limited. Send your registration/check made out to: IDP-RID and information to: Darlene Ensenat, IDP Treasurer, 831 S. Evanston Circle, Aurora, Co. 80012 Sue and Jeffrey reported they are seeking sponsors for this exciting event and more information will follow.

➢ IDP Member Section Meeting: Monday, August 10th, 7:30am – 9:00am will host a panel on Leadership “What it takes”. Kelly Decker has invited panelist thus far: Diana Kautzky, Lynette Taylor, and Melvin Walker who will lead the discussions. Included within this time frame, the new slate of IDP Council will be announced and other items to be determined.

➢ Sponsoring an Deaf Parented ITP student for the Conference: Sue Nace and Jeffrey Palmer are working and reported thus far the outreach has begun. Discussions were held on the sponsoring of donations for this event as well as the criteria that has been developed for a

funding of a student up to $500.00. As response has been limited as of this meeting date, another surge of outreach will be done directly to programs, etc. ➢ IDP Social Darlene Ensenat, Treasurer, reported she has found a nice place, off hotel premises, nearby, for a social gathering on Sunday, 6:00pm – 9:00 pm. The place, location and other additional information will be posted on the events page of the IDP Face book. A response will be needed to determine the numbers participating. Look for the Facebook posting, coming soon. ➢ Exhibitor Table – Member Sections Kelly reported in speaking to HQ, in the Exhibitors Room, the Member Sections would be sharing tables. A nice opportunity to interact with your member section, pick up extra information and ask your questions. A suggestion was made for IDP to create a 4x6 post card containing all of the IDP’s events, motions, to place on the tables in the Exhibit Room, the workshop tables, Member Section Meeting tables, etc. More details to follow. ➢ IDP Events Vlog Kelly invited Council members to do a Vlog to send an update on the upcoming conference activities. Look for this update soon. ➢ Community Forum Kelly reported there would be an IDP Sponsored Community Forum on Sunday afternoon, 8/10. Lynette Taylor, the coordinator is also seeking monetary support for the panel members. The council held a discussion on the amount based on the present budget of IDP and the expected income. A decision was made to support the Community Forum with a check for $1.000.00. ➢ Other: Our Chair will be representing IDP on the ‘Social Justice’ Panel being held on Tuesday morning, training for Table Moderators on Monday evening. Also, Kelly will be representing IDP on ISM, discussion on ‘Ways to Improve and Assist “, coordinated by Nancy Berlove. Member Section Name Change There has been discussion and consideration of changing the name of this member section. Some of the history was given when the name was changed from Hearing Interpreters with Deaf Parents to the general term of Interpreters with Deaf parents to include the DI. The suggestion of: Deaf Parented Interpreter becomes the change. The Council decided a poll is to be made of the member section. The results will be announced at the Member Section Meeting at the conference. The process for the change will take place, if it happens, prior to the new Council stepping up in September. Kelly will develop a ‘Monkey survey’ to this question. Motion for ASL as official language After a video conference call with several IDP Council members, Lynette Taylor, etc. it was decided to work with the Council of Elders for the wording of a motion, which will validate ASL as the language of the

conference. At this time, Kelly indicated the motion has been created, submitted to the national in the proper time frame and hope will vote yes when it comes up at the business meeting.

2015-2017 IDP Council-/Regional Representatives Another outreach will be made directly to Regions to invite/nominate IDP member interpreters to become part of the 2015-2017 IDP Council. The secretary will do a direct mail out to these regions.

IDP Report to the national HQ Kelly Decker, Chair, completed and sent the two-year IDP report to HQ on May 3, 2015. E-News – RID A Google document was created for the Council to review and give feedback prior to Kelly sending the IDP report for the E-news upcoming in June. The next meeting will be scheduled tentatively for June 29th.
