Improve your website’s pe ormance You can use free Google tools like Google Analytics and Search Console to get valuable insights on how people interact with your site and on how it performs, and find opportunities to enhance your presence online. Google Analytics gives you important information about how people find and interact with your website, including how they get to it, how long they spend on each page, and which pages they spend the most time on. If you want to take your website one step further, use Search Console to see how well your website performs in Google Search results to optimize your online visibility. You can see how Google “sees” your site; find errors if Google’s had issues with crawling, code, or links; and look at trends. These free tools give you information that will help you and your web designer make business decisions about your website. You don’t have to be a webmaster, but you can become familiar with the basics so you or your web designer or marketing specialist can make changes to optimize your site.

Get sta ed with Google Analytics Google Analytics can provide a wealth of information about your website performance and about how people interact with it. You can use it to get an overview of the number of visitors you get to your site. Or, go more advanced and set up strategic measurements to reach a goal.

Set up Google Analytics for your website Get your tracking ID 1.
To create your Analytics account, in your browser, go to google.com/analytics.

Use your G Suite username and password to sign in. The first time you sign in, you’ll see the dashboard.

In the Setting up your Account section, enter a name for this account (e.g., your business name).
4.
In the Setting up your property section, enter your website name and URL.
5.
In the Industry Category drop-down list, select your industry.

Choose your time zone.

(Optional) In the Data Sharing Settings section, we recommend you leave all boxes checked.

Click Get Tracking ID.

When the Google Analytics Terms of Service Agreement window pops up, click I agree. You go to the homepage, where you’ll see your tracking ID and the code you need to add to your site.
Add your tracking ID to your website For Google Analytics to get data on your site, you have to add the tracking code to your website pages. If you’ve just signed up and followed the instructions above, you’ll already be on the main page’s Tracking Code page, skip to step 2. If you’re coming back to these instructions after taking a break from the sign-up process: 1.
From the homepage, under your website name, click Tracking Info > Tracking Code.

Under Website Tracking, copy the entire tracking code in the text field, which begins with . This is the code that has to be added to your website.

Go into your website settings, and without changing anything to it, add the code to each page of your site that you want to track. ○

After you add the Analytics tracking code, it can take up to 24 hours information to start showing up on your homepage. 4.

Remove content from search results.

Monitor and maintain your website.

Check for errors or signs of hacking.
Set up your domain with Google Search Console 1.
To sign in to Google Search Console, visit google.com/webmasters/tools.

Sign in using your G Suite username and password.

From the home page, you now have to add your website (a “property”) to the Google Search Console. Click Add a property and type the URL of your website (including the http:// or https://).

Click Continue. You’ll be on the Site verification page.

To verify, you may see several options. Use the same option you used to verify your domain for G Suite.

(Optional) If you or your webmaster have access to your website, you can add an HTML file or meta tag to your homepage (this won’t affect your site). You can add several domains. After you verify your domain, your “property” will be listed in your Search Console homepage. You won’t see any data initially: It takes some time before you see any information.
