Two –Day International Conference on Disciplinary Discourses in Use of Technology 17-18 March, 2016, University of Hyderabad

Concept Note The meaning, thrust and direction of education has been greatly influenced by the new technological innovations and their application, besides the denseness of information flow, to improve both the quality and expanse of education today. What we need to understand is that the technological innovations do not have any uniform appeal across disciplines. In other words, there is a wide variation across disciplines with regard to the adoption of technologies. Today there is a need to look into not only issues of pedagogical nature dealing with the diverse disciplines but even with the adaptability and applicability of technology to different disciplines across sciences, social sciences, humanities and behavioral sciences. These have a bearing on the expanse of education, be it at the undergraduate level or at the level of higher education. In this regard, there is a need to debate both philosophical and pedagogic issues in application of technologies in education across class and ethnic groups, especially in a plural society like that of India. University of Hyderabad proposes a Two-Day International Seminar on the theme titled “Disciplinary Discourses in Use of Technology” and invites abstracts and papers from scholars across the spectrum of disciplines. The abstracts can be on any of the following broad themes: 1. Philosophical and pedagogical issues in the use of technological innovations in mathematical sciences. 2. Technological solutions to the pedagogical problems in teaching humanities. 3. The integrative nature of technologies in forging cross-disciplinary perspectives. 4. Educational models for certain migrant / nomadic communities / migrant labour and

technological solutions to address to the challenges. 5. Educational policies and programmes and adaption of technologies. 6. Technology, skill development and pedagogical issues. 7. Capacity building of teachers in enhanced technology usage. 8. Innovative approaches in pedagogy of UG education using technology. 9. Identification of knowledge gaps and information needs in UG teaching and learning in India and in EU. 10. Technology, Quality and Assessment of pedagogical materials. Any other aspect related to the theme other than the ones mentioned above. Address for Communication: Prof. J. Prabhakar Rao Prof. R. Siva Prasad Kumar Jaganmaya Jagajeet [email protected]
