Interactive CT Software for Predictable Treatment Planning of Dental Implants

SimPlant Takes the Guesswork out of Implant Placement The Best Available Diagnostics

The Best Available Diagnostics

A lthough panoramic X-Rays have traditionally been used to launch an implant treatment plan, many implant clinicians now realise that X-Ray films are often insufficient and can even provide misleading information. CT images provide the most comprehensive and accurate presurgical information.

The Whole Picture

The Whole Picture

A SimPlant CT study creates a complete planning environment, allowing simultaneous viewing of cross sectional, axial, panoramic and 3D images in an interactive setting. From these you can confidently plan treatment scenarios to ensure optimal implant placement. A variety of measurement and simulation tools are included to assist you in establishing the plan.

The Treatment Plan

The Treatment Plan Once

you have determined all your options, you can formulate one or more plans for the implant surgery, and consult with your patient or referring clinician. You can even take the treatment plan one step further: ask Materialise to fabricate a SurgiGuide, a customised drill guide, to assist you in turning your virtual plan into precise reality.

COMPUTER GUIDED SURGERY,

1

A CT scan provides comprehensive, non-distorted data describing your patient's bone quantity and quality.

IT’S AS EASY AS

2

SimPlant interactive CT software allows you to accurately evaluate your patient's anatomy and simulate implant placement and bone augmentation procedures.

3

Your SimPlant treatment plan can then be used to create a SurgiGuide for fast accurate surgery.

Automatic Placement A tool for automatic placement of implants parallel to and in between existing implants has been added. Placement of the automatic implants respects a minimum distance and helps in determining the optimal spread of the implants. This, of course, will reduce your treatment planning time.

Restorative Space You may now visualise the restorative space needed for implant placement. Turn on the restorative space visual aid to help in evaluating the position of the fixture with respect to the restoration. Get the maximum impact from the position of your implants.

Measurements Easy-to-use tools allow accurate measurement of distances, angles and density, resulting in precise implant placement. SimPlant uses Hounsfield Units to help determine the tissue type from CT density measurements.

Image Enhancement SimPlant allows manipulation of the Gary-scale presentation to help locate various anatomical structures, such as the hard-to-find inferior alveolar canal. Colour scales are also available for additional image enhancement.

Interactive 3D Images Use the 3D images to gain a further understanding of your patient's bony anatomy. You can rotate the 3D image to any orientation and reference any location starting from the 3D. You can visualise the implants and abutments that you placed and any simulated bone grafts that you created. The position and orientation of the implants can be altered interactively in the 3D image.

Localization of Vital Structures Various tools are available to trace the alveolar nerve channel, enabling you to make it visible in all views.

Automatic Bone Quality Measurement Use this tool to determine the quality of bone in which you plan to place your implants. The CT density is displayed in different directions and positions. If you move or rotate the implant, SimPlant recalculates the bone quality.

Implant Library Select specific implants from a library provided by the implant manufacturers. This library can be further personalised and extended.

Document Your Project SimPlant also helps you meet an ever-increasing medical/legal need for precise case documentation by allowing you to add comments to your treatment plan and to select from several printing options. It's also easy to copy any part of your treatment plan for inclusion in slides or other documents.

SimPlant Eliminates Surprises During Surgery by removing the need to speculate about patient anatomy from inadequate X-Rays by providing accurate and comprehensive information about the patient's anatomy W ith SimPlant's 3D visualization, I can accurately plan my sinus lifts, bone augmentation, angulation and length of my implants before opening my surgical tray! The security is well worth my investment! Philip Hartman, Periodontist, Studio City, CA

S imPlant has allowed me a totally different perspective on a case prior to surgery. I feel more comfortable starting the surgery. Rik Vanooteghem, Periodontist, Sunnyvale, CA

SimPlant Increases Revenue from increased referrals from increased patient case acceptance S imPlant has proven invaluable in my practice. It has made “selling the case” much easier because the patients and restorative dentist can see why a case was planned the way it was. Kevin Corry, Oral Surgeon, Union, NJ

W ith SimPlant I have accepted and successfully completed complex implant cases that I had previously rejected. Only SimPlant gives me the quantity and quality of information to allow predictable treatment plans with confidence. George Schuetz, Prosthodontist, Wilder, VT

SimPlant Produces Cost Savings through fewer failures, so fewer follow-up visits through reduced surgical time, so you keep your production high through predictable laboratory and restorative costs through increased cash flow since implant inventory is planned ahead F or quite a while, I lost money doing implants. Seldom did I get cases back from the surgeons the way I expected. Sometimes, the results were extra implants, implants too close together, or implants placed in areas I had not planned because of a lack of good bone. Since I started using SimPlant, I do not get unexpected results. The four surgeons and periodontists that refer to me often request SimPlant on their cases. John E. Tozer, General Dentist, Bangor, ME

S imPlant reduces surgical time due to greater anatomical awareness. SimPlant is a tremendous time saver compared to using film for presurgical planning.

George Papasikos, Periodontist, Upper Montclair, NJ

SimPlant is an Outstanding Communication Tool for patient education and presentation for clear communication between all members of the treatment team M y colleague Dr. Mecall and I have talked about it and we both agree that SimPlant has been instrumental in increasing referrals to our practice. It has enhanced communication between our office and our referring dentists' offices. And it helps us explain the process to patients. We take a CT scan with the barium-coated diagnostic template in place, we can then actually sit down with patients and show them a silhouette of what their teeth will look like after the implants are placed. With SimPlant, we can make a better case presentation, which leads to higher case acceptance. Even patients who find it necessary to seek a second opinion tend to return to us because we offer them

something other periodontists do not - a visualization of the final outcome of the case. We can only attribute these patients' return to SimPlant. Alan L. Rosenfeld, Periodontist, Park Ridge, IL

S imPlant has proven to be an excellent marketing and educational tool for my patients and referring doctors, an investment which has paid for itself many times over. Scott Ganz, Prosthodontist, Fort Lee, NJ
