The essay must be read and approved by both a representative of philosophy and a representative of the other discipline. The paper need not exhibit the level of professional competence required for the Ph.D. dissertation itself, but should treat the interface problem at a level of competence which would make the paper of interest to professionals in the disciplines involved.
