Who was Terry Fox? Terry Fox was a Canadian athlete, humanitarian and cancer research activities. Diagnosed with bone cancer and with his leg amputated at a young age, he began a quest to help others find courage and raise awareness for cancer and research by starting the Marathon of Hope, a run across Canada. After 143 days and 5,373km, the cancer spread and was forced to end his quest. He died at the age of 21, leaving behind a worldwide legacy. In its 35th year, Terry Fox runs takes place around the world.
About the run in Hong Kong
3rd annual Terry Fox Community Run in HK, organized by a group of passionate volunteers with no budget for expenses.
Supporting organizations include Renaissance College Hong Kong, Simon Fraser University Alumni Group, Canadian University Association (Hong Kong), CPA Canada Hong Kong Chapter, Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong, The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in HK, and a number of local and international schools.
Attendees include Belinda Greer, CEO of ESF, Dr. Harry Brown, Principal of Renaissance College Hong Kong, The Honorable J. Ian Burchett, Consul General of Canada in HK and Macao, The Honorable Christy Clark, British Columbia Premier of Canada, Allison Yu Chui Yee, HK Paralympics Fencing Gold Medalist and Dr. Stephen Chan, Associate Professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong Specialist in Medical Oncology.
Funds raised are directed to support cancer research in HK.
Run, walk or wheel in the non-competitive 3, 5 or 10km routes.
