Invitation to the William M. Tendy Trial Competition Reception On April 27 at 5:00 P.M. in the Moot Court Room, the Moore Advocacy Center will present the final round of the Inaugural William M. Tendy Federal Criminal Trial Competition. Two teams of Fordham students will try a mock federal narcotics case before a distinguished bench consisting of Southern District Judges John F. Keenan and Barbara S. Jones, former U.S. Attorneys for the Southern District of New York Robert B. Fiske and Mary Jo White, and former U.S. Attorney and District Judge for the Southern District of New York, John S. Martin, Jr. We will follow the trial with a reception including the extended Tendy family, Bill’s former colleagues, and current friends of Fordham and the Southern District. William M. Tendy, Fordham Law Class of 1949, was a longtime pillar of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York where he served as Acting U.S. Attorney, Chief Assistant to U.S. Attorneys Robert B. Fiske and John S. Martin, and Deputy U.S. Attorney to U.S. Attorney Rudolph W. Giuliani. In addition, Mr. Tendy served as Regional Director of New York State’s Organized Crime Task Force and received the Federal Bar Council’s Emory Buckner Medal for public service. Krystyn Tendy, Bill’s granddaughter and Fordham Law Class of 2009, drafted the case file with Eva Belich, another 2009 Fordham Law graduate. While at Fordham, they served in leadership positions with the Moore Advocates. If you cannot come early enough for the trial, please join us just for the reception which should begin around 8:00 P.M. Help us celebrate Bill’s legacy by bringing together current and former Fordham Law students with current and former Southern District lawyers. Former U.S. Attorney and Manhattan District Attorney Robert M. Morgenthau has agreed to come, and we are inviting judges from all the rounds, including U.S. District Judges Harold Baer, Jr., Denise L. Cote, and Paul G. Gardephe, U.S. Magistrate Judges Frank Maas and Henry Pitman, U.S. Circuit Judge Denny Chin, and Southern District graduates Andrew M. Lawler, Paul K. Rooney, Thomas Fitzpatrick and Walter Mack. Hope to see you in the Moot Court Room and/or Room 430 on April 27! Professor James L.
