Grief, Loss and General Pastoral Care
Parish Happenings !!!!
Baby Bottle Campaign Our church will be participating on the weekend of 1-20-18 to support A Woman’s Concern – Learn Your Options. Next week individuals and families will have the opportunity to respond to the issue of Life. We will be handing out Baby Bottles or a donation envelope for you to take home, fill with cash, checks, and change and bring them back to the church. Our financial support will help to make these services available free of cost to those who are in need of support and guidance in the fight for life! If you decide to give a donation by check, please make the check out to A Woman’s Concern.
St. Athanasius provides individual or small group support to those experiencing the loss of a loved one, or any loss, or other life difficulties or stress. We collaborate with various groups and counselors in the area who provide services at no cost. If you or someone you know is experiencing loss or distress and would like time limited pastoral counseling, please contact the parish office for more information.

January 14, 2018
2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time A lot of organizations require volunteer time: schools, PTAs, Scout programs, leadership training programs. Others depend on their membership to volunteer: parish, clubs, community organizations, food kitchens, theater groups, choirs, etc. Someone has to get involved if these cultural, educational and religious groups are to provide the services and programs that benefit so many people. Helping hands make for handy help. Serving others is an expression of faith and a practical expression of love. Many people say that they get so much from volunteering and helping others. It’s easy to make a difference in someone’s life and offer a bit of reassurance, help and hope. It’s a gift that comes back to us a hundred times over. Service is not limited to helping the community, but also extends to our own family and neighbors. Washing dishes or cleaning up the yard, or giving someone a ride, or sharing a meal contribute to making life easier and less of a burden. These unexpected and random acts of kindness connect us to each other and give everyone a sense of belonging. That’s a gift that lasts all year long.
