THANK YOU from the Miller Family on behalf of my father Robert J. Miller
Many Thanks to our Parishioners ! We are happy to say that through our Thanksgiving Gift card Collection we collected a total amount of $1,923 ! This is several hundred dollars more than last year ! The Reading Food Pantry received $858 (45% of total) and Catholic Charities North received $1,065 (55% of the total).
On an early Sunday morning in December, just less than twelve hours after attending Mass and receiving communion as he routinely did every Saturday, my father passed away. We wanted to take a minute to extend a sincere Thank you to Fr. Colarusso for anointing my father in the wee hours of the morning and extending words of comfort to all of us. We also would like to extend our Thanks to the parishioners of St. Athanasius for warmly welcoming our dad each and every Saturday with a smile and a handshake of peace.
Thanks for supporting these efforts! Sincerely, St. Athanasius Hospitality Ministry 4

Epiphany of the Lord One of my nieces loved to perform when she was just a pre-schooler. She would sing songs or do ‘amazing’ tricks! But she always wanted someone to introduce her, beginning with the traditional “Ladies and gentlemen.” Without a proper introduction she could not perform and the show came to a grinding, if not teary, halt. No doubt she loved the spotlight and the attention. Everyone likes to be treated with special attention. Some occasions, like birthdays and anniversaries, call for it. Some people require a special introduction: new friends, relatives, business associates and VIP’s. Whether as a courtesy or an obligation, a little attention makes everyone feel good. It acknowledges people’s importance and what they mean to us. It highlights the abilities and qualities of those we love and respect. Most importantly, it gives us the chance to let others know how we feel, even if we don’t say it often enough. A little special attention goes a long way. It lifts the spirits, changes hearts, lightens the mood and brightens a day. Our actions speak volumes and let our family know how important they are to us. Don’t wait for a special performance or occasion or for the show to come to a halt. Give your loved ones the attention they deserve—yours! James Gaffney, to St. George Publishing

January 7 ~ The Epiphany of the Lord In an age when we rely on a “gps” or “Google maps” or “waze,” it is easy to find another route home. But the magi in today’s Gospel didn’t have this modern technology to rely on when they were told to return to their country “by another way.” The familiar route was not to be taken yet they trusted and did as was advised. On this feast of Epiphany, what “new way” is God inviting you to travel now? Where in your life might God be urging you to “take another route?” Will you trust that God will lead you along a new path?
