PHI is seeking a Library Technician for the Alcohol Research Group (ARG). This is a time limited position through December 2017 with the possibility of extension depending on funding. This position is located in Emeryville, CA. Under the supervision of the Manager of Administrative Services and in conjunction with the Information Specialist III (Library Technician), the Information Specialist I will be responsible for various tasks related to the overall functioning of the Library. Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist with several large-scale library projects including a major cataloging and barcoding project
Shelve, shift, and reorganize library books and journals
Process new incoming journals and newsletters
Retrieve digital copies of articles for researchers
Assist with copy-cataloging and labeling of monographs and other materials returning to the collection from storage
Maintain and enter data in library database
Process pamphlet and other materials returning from storage to be added to the collection
Participate in library committee meetings
Other general clerical duties in connection with the operation of a library Qualifications:
High School degree required
Enrollment in MLIS program is desirable but not required

Strong preference for someone interested in the field of Library and Information Science Potential candidates may have undertaken cataloging, special libraries, or special collections coursework Ability to organize, prioritize work, follow instructions, detail-oriented and work independently Ability to communicate effectively with library users and interact smoothly in an office environment.
Must be reliable and flexible.
Good database and word processing software skills. Ability to learn new software quickly
At least one year of library experience preferred
An individual with special collections or preservation experience desirable but not required Compensation: This is a non-exempt position and the hourly wage is commensurate with experience.
