John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School Sophomore Year Faith in Action Service Contract

Each year, Hallahan students are required to participate in the “Faith in Action Project.” The projects act as a way for the girls to live out their faith and express their Christian values. A Supervisor Form must be completed and signed for each project completed. During Sophomore Year, there are a minimum of three Service Projects due: There must be a minimum of 10 hours of service. • Can be completed in school, or out of school. • Examples could be: acting as an altar server, participating in a prayer vigil, tutoring, volunteering for an Open House, volunteering for 8th Grade Day, helping an elderly neighbor, volunteering to help a charitable organization, such as a soup kitchen, working with a community group to clean up a neighborhood park. • If you are getting paid for your activity, it is not service! If it is part of your expected duties (such as babysitting a younger sibling or going to Mass), it is not service!

For each service project students include the following items in their Journal: 1. Completed and signed Supervisor Form. 2. A thoughtful written reflection of the project (Where was it performed? Who benefited from the service? What agency or group did you work with? What challenges did you face? What did you learn? 3. Two artifacts from the project (pictures, pamphlet from the organization worked for…).
