Jon Sims Endowment Fund for the Performing Arts 2014 Annual Financial Report January 20, 2015

The Jon Sims Endowment Fund for the Performing Arts (JSEF) continues to provide a wide range of grants to support schools, environmental and health initiatives, and the development of civil and philanthropic infrastructure as a means to tackle the host of challenges facing the diverse communities in which we remain active. The mission of the JSEF continues to consist of engaging in donor solicitation and other fundraising activities for nonprofit, tax-exempt performing arts organizations. JSEF holds and invests funds for the accounts of donor organizations and distributes the earnings for special projects of these organizations. JSEF also issues grants to other organizations from JSEF-controlled funds. We are very excited about the “$200,000 Endow-A-Thon” that was announced during November at the annual LGBA Conference in Ft. Lauderdale. So far, the response has been very positive, and we look forward to receiving newly endowed funds from 10 LGBA member organizations. Overall, JSEF has committed up to $200,000 in matching funds for this program. FINANCIAL UPDATE As of December 31, 2014, the total amount of all funds under the control of JSEF was $420,466. As the chart below shows, this is the highest asset total in JSEF history. More impressive, this is $42,992 ahead of our balance a year earlier, and it reflects the $31,000 in grants issued during 2014 by JSEF. This is due to a continuing positive securities market (newly endowed funds from the “$200,000 EndowA-Thon” are not included in this total yet). The following chart shows the impressive trend of JSEF investments over the last seven years.
