UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS

GUIDANCE Students must be in perfect uniform at all times, from the moment they leave their home to come into the academy, until they return home on an evening; whenever students are wearing the academy uniform they are representing the academy. If shoes or an item of uniform is damaged and there is a slight delay in replacing it then the academy will provide a temporary replacement. If a student refuses to wear this item they will be placed in consequences or sent home.

JUMPERS (OPTIONAL) In Years 7 – 10 students may wear a black jumper with logo. In Year 11 students may wear a grey jumper with logo. These must be purchased from our supplier

The Principal will make the final decision of whether items of uniform are acceptable. If you are unsure whether or not certain items of uniform meet our uniform requirements, please check with the academy before you purchase them. JACKETS Students are required to wear an academy jacket with logo at all times. Students may request to take their jacket off in a classroom; this is at the discretion of the teacher. Year 11 - Students are required to wear a grey Jacket without logo Year 7-10 Students are required to wear a black jacket with logo All jackets must be purchased from our supplier. SKIRTS If your child chooses to wear a skirt you must purchase a Colchester skirt from our supplier; any other brand or style of skirt is not permitted. Students must wear tights if they choose to wear a skirt. Tights must be black and between 20 & 80 denier. TROUSERS In Years 7 – 10 you may purchase your own black trousers, these must be formal, plain black with no pattern. All pockets must go into the trousers and not be visible from the outside. In Year 11 Grey trousers must be purchased from our supplier, any other style or brand is not permitted The following trousers are not acceptable in any year group: • Combat trousers • Low rise hipsters • Chinos • Trousers with patch/studded pockets • Any other inappropriate fashion trousers • Leggings • Drainpipe trousers • Jeans • Slim fit (boys or girls) • Skinny trousers SHIRTS Shirts must be long sleeved and completely white with a collar. Short sleeve shirts are not permitted. No logos on shirts are acceptable. The top button must be present and fastened at all times. Shirts must be tucked into trousers. Sleeves on shirts and jackets must always be rolled down. BELTS Belts must be plain black with no patterns or indentations (no other colour or part colour is acceptable) aside from the buckle. The belt must be made from leather or a similar leather look material that could be polished. The buckle must be basic, look professional and display no logo. The buckle must be black or silver in colour. Coloured stitching is not permitted. SOCKS Socks must be plain black and professional looking. Socks must go above the ankle and frills are not allowed on the hem. TIGHTS Tights must be plain black and professional looking and between 20 – 80 denier. Tights must not be patterned or have any texture to them. Leggings are not permitted.

LANYARDS AND HOUSE BADGES The lanyard must be worn at all times in school around the neck. It should clearly be displayed and not be tucked in a student’s jumper or blazer pocket. The lanyard needs to be worn at the correct length and not be worn with knots in it. If any part of the lanyard or ID badge is damaged or defaced student‘s will be required to purchase a new item immediately. The House badge should be pinned and displayed on the students blazer at all times. It should be pinned in the middle of the left lapel of the blazer. TIES This must be tied, adjusted up to the top button of the shirt and must be of an appropriate length. Whether or not the tie is of an appropriate length will be determined by the stripes on the tie. The stripes must be at least one inch (or more) below the knot. The stripes must not be less than one inch below the knot, touching the knot and on the knot.

FOOTWEAR Shoes must be completely black, look professional and not have any logos or tags eg Kickers tags. The sole of the shoe must be completely black. The laces must be black, any eyelets must be black. They must be formal shoes, not black trainers, converse, pumps , sandshoes or sandals. The shoes must be leather or leather look and must be able to be polished. Only one buckle is allowed on any style of shoe. This buckle must be black or silver. The eyelets which the laces go through must be small and black. Any stitching on the sole or the shoe must be black. BAG The academy expects all students to bring a ban which must be able to hold an A4 planner, PE kit, stationery, black/ blue, green pens, pencil and a ruler. PE KIT FOR GIRLS The compulsory PE kit must be purchased from our supplier and comprises of: • Aptus short sleeve training top with logo • Aptus full zip training top with logo • Either black shorts and black socks or Aptus training pants. Girls may choose to wear leggings for dance. These are not available from our supplier PE KIT FOR BOYS The compulsory PE kit for boys must be purchased from our supplier and comprises of: • Aptus short sleeve training top with logo • Black shorts & Black socks • Pro Tec Rugby shirt • Aptus ¼ zip training top with logo (optional) • Aptus training pants (optional)

GENERAL APPEARANCE As part of a students’ general appearance the following are not acceptable: • False nails (including coloured or french polish) • Painted nails – only clear nail polish is permitted • False eyelashes • Fake tan or spray tan that does not look natural • Unnatural looking eyebrows such as HD brows • Facial piercings (clear spacers or retainers are not allowed at any time) • Extreme hair colours (only natural looking colours are permitted) • Extreme hair styles including any step change in hair length (boys and girls) • Bandanas – this includes wearing them as a hairband • No shaved patterns into hair • No visible tattoos • Jewellery – (including rings, bracelets, bangles) • Badges (other than badges issued by the academy) • Caps or hats The following are acceptable: • Hair bobble which must be black in colour • An Alice band can be worn provided it is black in colour and no more than 1 centimetre wide • Hair clips (must be black in colour or the same colour as hair) • One watch may be worn on the wrist (Smartwatches are not allowed) • One pair of small plain silver or gold earrings (no sleepers, stretchers or spikes). The stud must be in the ear lobe and not at any other point of the ear. Coloured earrings or earrings with stones are not permitted. FURTHER GUIDANCE • Any item of clothing worn underneath the shirt must not be visible through the shirt (this includes underwear and vests) If a student fails to abide by any part of the policy whilst on the academy site (inside the perimeter boundary) they will be challenged by a member of staff and the appropriate sanction will be put in place. The student will also be required to rectify the issue immediately. If they refuse to do this they will be put in consequences or sent home at the discretion of the principal.
