Æon ______________________________________________________________________________ Aaarrgh... From the Swedish deserts comes another great uncompromising two piece act. Well, I give you a short story about the ugliest metal band UNPURE: They started in November’90 the first time, but they soon split up pretty fast again because of some problems and lack of interests from some parts ! But one year later ( November’91 ) they decided to try it again. Since then they have been terrorizing the air w th their freezing black metal. The first gig was done in May’92 ( only two songs were played) and it was misunderstood. Second gig took place in February’93 (45 minutes this time !) and UNPURE played as the only band . In June’93 a 20 minutes show has been done open air, but the band has always big problems in finding the right members . At the momen they are a two-piece (see photo, left to right:Kolgrim and Hräselg ) which started their first band together back in ’87. I wanted to know from Kolgrim what the main inspirations were to form a ( in my opinion excellent) band like UNPURE... Kolgrim:‘The main inspiration for the creation of UNPURE is probably our inner selves and our thoughts about evil,darkness,cold,war and destruction... I haven’t give this questions much thoughts so I think starting the band just came natural for us !’ Do you have any dreams with UNPURE ? Kolgrim:‘Dreams ??????? Well, some of my dreams become lyrics to songs ...’ What about live-acting ? Kolgrim:‘Yes, we have played ‘live’. Three times only, but never with any other black metal blands, just alone and we have scared people at a music festival. That’s our humour ! Perhaps it will become true playing with other Black Metal bands. Live performance of UNPURE is a mayhem !!!’ Do you have any concrete future plans ? Kolgrim:‘Our future plany are releasing our third demo very soon probably in February’94, t-shirts will also be printed very soon!’ UNPURE has released a mayhemic demo in 1993 which includes five songs of unpurest cold black stuff and an Intro/Outro. They aren’t a pure black metal band ( perhaps because of this reason they decided to call their band UNPURE ) due to the great ancient influences and sometimes really rhythm-like guitar riffing which are fucking cool. They remind me at classic black metal bands like i.e. VENOM as they play music with a kind of ugly fun in the back of their minds. Just look at old VENOM clips ( Witching Hour as an example) how Cronos grimly poses and looks into the camera. I hope you know what I mean !?! Well,
UNPURE is totally different in comparison to other northern stuff and I fucking like it alot. Songtitles like ‘Big Dead Landscapes’ or ‘Col Freezing Dark’ clearly show that they are influenced by that Scandinavian country, but sadly I have no lyrics at hand.
