Introduction This guide relates to using the Label Workshop within Kodit UDI (kUDID). For a complete guide to designing a label in the koditPaperFlex (kPF) label designer please refer to the kPF user guide

Paperflex in kUDID The Label Workshop shows the label templates you have created in kPF. These label templates are used for printing orders from base package products. Click on ‘Label Workshop’ in the main menu. You will see a list of all the label templates you have previously created. Clicking on the ‘Edit Template’ icon will open that template for editing. To create a new template click on ‘Launch kPF’. This will take you to the template repository of your kPF label designer.

Brief Overview of kPF Template repository The template repository is a tile view of all the label templates created in kPF. For each label template you create a new tile will be added to your repository which will also appear in the Label Workshop list view of label templates in kUDID. To open a template left click on any tile

How to create a template Left click on ‘Create Template’. Enter a unique name for the template, the size you want your label and the units of measurement you want to work in. There are a number of predefined options in the ‘Paper Size’ field . Choosing ‘Custom’ allows you to set your own label size in the ‘Page Width’ and ‘Page Height’ fields. When finished click on create. A new template will be created for you and will open automatically.

Saving a label template There are three ways to save your template:Save Save and Close Save As

Saves the template and allows you to carry on working. Saves and closes the template. Saves a copy of the template with a new name.

All tools are in the left hand toolbar. Each tool has its own property panel. Tools consist of lines, rectangles, ellipses, text , paragraphs, images, barcodes and customised items. Select a tool from the toolbar and draw the item on the canvas from left to right.

Linking fields to kUDID using customised items Customised Items are used to dynamically populate your label with values contained within your kUDID database when a label is produced in the Orders section. This can be from the base and config package information, the order information or the manufacturers, representatives and distributors information. To add a customised item click on the link icon in the toolbar. This will produce the list of customised items. Click on the item to add and draw it on the canvas. Once all your customised items are added clicking on ‘Show Names’ in the toolbar will show the names of the customised items.

The label template will now show in the template repository and the kUDID Label Workshop listview. It can now be assigned to a base package.

Assigning a Label Template to a Base Package Click on ‘Base Packages’ in the main menu. Click on ‘View Details’ of the base package to assign the label template to. Click on ‘Edit’. Click on the ‘Label’ tab From the ‘Label Template’ drop down list select the label template you want to assign to this base package. Click on ‘Save and Close’.

Making an Order from a Base Package. *For more comprehensive instructions to making an order see the Orders user guide. You can only make an order from a base package that has been ‘Reviewed’ and ‘Approved’ Click on the ‘Make Order’ icon of the base package you want to make the order from. Fill in the ‘Order Details’ form then click on ‘Save and Close’. Click on ‘View Details’ of the order created in the orders list view. On the ‘Order Details’ page click on ‘Generate Labels’. Once the labels are generated click on ‘View Details’ of the labels Click on ‘Preview’ for the main label template. This shows a preview of the label. You can then print the label as a ZPL format or as a PDF. You can also download the label as PDF or ZPL file.
