KWATRO SINKO Simplified Rules Note: For official Math Pentathlon rule manual, contact MHG MP Coordinator. Refer to tournament highlight sheets when preparing for tournament. Materials: game board, five chips of 1 color labeled (0,2,4,6 and 8), five chips of different color labeled (1,3,5,7 and 9), and a flag card Goal: To win, a player must correctly identify a winning path of EXACTLY 3 chips (2 of the same color, and a 3rd of different color). The result of adding the 2 chips of the same color and subtracting the 3rd chip of the different color must total of 4 or 5. There can be unoccupied spaces between the 3 chips and all 5 of the players chips must be on nonnumbered circular spaces. Set-Up: Each player takes a chip without looking. The player with lowest number begins. This is the EVEN player and can only move even numbered chips during the game. The opponent will be ODD and will only move ODD numbered chips. All chips are placed on corresponding number on game board. Flag card is given to the beginning player, which is passed at the end of each turn. Begin game with a Hand Shake & say; “Good Luck” Chip Movement: During each player’s turn, the player moves a chip of their own color, one space onto an unoccupied circular space which is directly connected by a line. The chip can be moved horizontal, vertical or diagonal. The chip CANNOT jump over other chips and cannot be moved across central yellow area. Notes: - Once a chip has been moved of its space, that chip must be moved to complete a turn. - The win can consist of 2 of their own color and 1 of opponent’s color OR two of opponent’s color and 1 of their own color. Player must correctly identify winning path and number sentence must be stated. Declare a Win before passing the Flag Card. End game with a Hand Shake & say; “Good Game” Strategies: Although all 5 of your own chips must be off all numbered spaces to declare a win, not all chips of the winning path need to be off numbered spaces!
