Visiting speakers are invited to give illustrated talks on subjects of historical interest, either about the local area, or more generally.
Research projects Our current projects are: Battle of Langport Trail Langport carnivals Please contact us if you have information or would like to help with any of these projects.
Our talks are held in Langport Library, Whatley, Langport. They start at 7.30pm on the first Monday in the month, except if that is a Bank Holiday, when we meet a week later, and July and August, when we don't meet. Talks are free to members. Non-members are very welcome, £2.00 per talk.
VISITS Recently we have been to Sherborne Castle, the Poppy Factory in Richmond, Surrey, and John Boyd Textiles in Castle Cary. In May 2018 we will visit Dawes Twine Works at West Coker.
Digital image bank Since 2010 we have been making digital copies of photographs of Langport and the surrounding area. If you have any old photos that you are willing to let us borrow, please get in touch. A selection is on display at the Black Swan pub in North Street.
PUBLICATIONS
Exhibitions We have mounted displays about Walter Bagehot, Langport carnivals and local men who died in the First World War. If you would like to help put on a display please let us know.
