48th Precinct Council Meeting Minutes Tuesday, October 24 @ 7:00 PM Location: 450 Cross Bronx Expressway Claudette Coles, Law Enforcement Committee Chairperson
Captain Brown introduced Deputy Chief Pintos of Community Affairs to the community. The following information was presented at the meeting: ● ● ● ●
Shootings are up by one in a 20 day period. Rapes are up by two (previously at 0). Felonies are down by 17. Burglaries are on a rise due to windows being left open on fire escapes.
Captain Brown discussed the stabbing that occurred in one of our Bronx schools. He warned the community about an increase in grand larceny due to bags being left in cars. NCO Sergeant Bonilla gave a summary on how the NCOs work in each sector and had each officer introduce themselves. Representatives from the offices of Senator Gustavo Rivera, Councilmember Ritchie Torres, and Assemblymember Victor Pichardo were also present. ●

Jay Baez explained that free notary is available every Tuesday from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Senator Rivera’s district office. They will also host a canned food drive for the holiday season. Rafael Moure, representing Councilmember Ritchie Torres, spoke about the budget meeting that will be held on Wednesday, October 25 at the Kingsbridge Library.
On October 18, 2017 Officer Mimms from the 48th went to our Afterschool program TUMC and spoke to the students about bullying after students brought it to my attention. It was a pleasure seeing the students so alert to the officer. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, November 26, 2017 at 7:00 PM at the 48th Precinct.
