Awful TextbookBy Fred MerrittAs someone who has a master's degree in education and a bachelors degree in Literature it is fair to say that I have read my share of text books over the years. With that being said, this is probably one of the worst textbooks I have ever been forced to read. The language is overcomplicated and very confusing. I cannot tell you how many times I would throw the book down in frustration and contempt. As someone mentioned above I often just ended up googling these theories so that I could actually complete my coursework. There is no need to write in this manner especially given the fact that this is supposed to help students learn about these theories. I've always been a believer in the idea that the best educators are able to take the most complex ideas and deliver them to students in their simplest form. Well this book almost seems to do the complete opposite. I would not recommend this book under any circumstances and if you are forced to rent/buy this for the class I am sorry.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Good experience and product was as advertisedBy Sally McMurrayThe book arrived in good condition and in the time frame as stated in the ad. The book was simple and easy to understand if you know the basics of cognition, learning, and instruction. Each chapter is like a book with summaries, main points, and references. It is only a 461 page book so it is straight and to the point without a lot of fluff. As with all text books however the price is ridiculously overpriced, but the going rate for educational textbooks.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. What do profs see in this mess?By John MosherI am thankfully done with this nightmare. Like the other poor reviews here I found this book to be boring almost beyond belief and essentially almost completely lifted from other sources. The footnotes for each chapter are each 3 pages minimum. If this is required reading for you, you have my sympathy. This comprehensive text takes a models approach by presenting separate chapters on individual theorists and perspectives. Within this well-organized structure,
