Lettering Policy LHS Choral Music Department Bismarck Public Schools
The requirements for lettering in choir are: 1. Participate in the WDA Music Festival and/or State Music Festival. 2. Audition and/or participate in another festival such as All-State, Northwest Festival, ACDA Honor Choir, UND Honor Choir, etc. 3. One of the following each semester: A. Attendance at community or school musical events: 1. One professional/community/college level concert. 2. One concert student level or above. B. Private Lessons in voice or instrument. 4. Must be a member in good standing of the ensemble based on: A. Eligibility B. Maintaining a 3.5 average in all music courses C. Appropriate behavior in the ensemble at all times D. Classroom effort/cooperation E. No unexcused absences from concerts Each student wishing to be considered for a letter during any given school year must inform the appropriate teacher. A file will then be started for this student. The student will be responsible for making sure that his/her file is kept up to date. All decisions as to lettering will be made by the conductor/teacher of the ensemble.
