Hello and Welcome ! My name is Maria Miller and I very excited and feel privileged to be part of your student’s education. My educational background is in Social Science and Curriculum Development with a passion for nurturing agents of change. My education practices include Socratic seminar discussions, document based questions, collaborative learning, and project based design. The Common Core Standards for English Language Arts are designed to push learning and teaching toward college and career readiness. For reading students will grapple with literary works of art. Students will write in terms of asserting and defending their claims, Listening and speaking—students will take part in structured discussions (whole class, small group, and partner), and last in language standards students will have firm control over the convections of standard English.

GRADES AND CITIZENSHIP: Grades will be updated frequently on PowerSchool and strongly suggest that they are reviewed on a weekly basis. STUDENTS are responsible for making up work when they are absent. Please check Google Classroom for assignment and lessons when class is missed. Students are expected to hand in assignments on time. Extra time maybe requested before an assignment is due. Please request additional time via email. Approval of time will be agreed upon by both teacher and student.
No late work will be accepted. HOMEWORK: Weekend homework will occur only for assignments such as essays and culminating unit projects. Homework is an integral part of learning and must be turned in consistently for success.
