Living + Together at the Crossroads Building Bridges between Europe and the Middle East

The UWC short course in Istanbul, Turkey, will take place for the 3rd time this year under the title

"Living Together at the Crossroads – Building Bridges between Europe and the Middle East" Turkey offers a fascinating location from which to explore relations between Europe and the MENA region. Its geographic location offers a symbolic and logistically practical middle ground whilst the multiplicity of ethnicities within the country makes questions of how best to ‘Live Together’ extremely relevant. The city of Istanbul unites many differences, bringing together old and new, tradition and modernity, churches and mosques, East and West. The course aims to stimulate dialogue between young people from Europe and the MENA region, leading to collective reflection and ultimately action as participants are given the tools and selfconfidence required to set up their own social initiatives in their country of origin. The course will cover the topics of Identity, Politics and Political Systems, Civil Society and Social Movements, Conflict Analysis and Mediation, Migration and Integration, Education and Knowledge Production, and Sustainability and Urban Development The course will run from 4-19 August 2015 at Bahçeşehir College.
