Criteria & Selection of MRAP Membership The Mayor wants an advisory panel that represents as far as possible, the diversity of London’s refugee and migrant population, the range of specialism among communities and the geographical distribution. To reflect MRAP’s mandate and terms of reference, membership will consist of 16 members, a mix of appointed and recruited members. MRAP members will be recruited based on criteria including; involvement with refugee and migrant community organisations , 2nd tier and other organisations that support refugee and migrant organisations and mainstream capacity building organisations. The chair reserves the right to invite additional members to join MRAP as appropriate. Membership 1. Representatives from refugee and migrant support organisations; Pan-London and national organisations that operate in London and as part of their usual activities; supporting refugee and migrant communities, advocating on their behalf and influencing national & local policies that affect integration Pan-London and national organisations that operate in London providing capacity building support to community organisations Pan-London and national organisations from the advice sector that operate in London 2. Representative from refugee and migrant-led community organisations; 2nd tier refugee and migrant community organisations Refugee and migrant community organisations that work on policy, equality and cross cutting themes Refugee and migrant community organisations that work on specific London Enriched core themes: - ESOL - Health - Housing - Employment, Skills & Enterprise - Community Safety - Children & Young people - Community Development & Participation Key skills and Knowledge a. Understanding the needs of migrant & refugee communities b. Ability to provide strategic and local insight including sufficient knowledge of the challenges migrant & refugee communities face c. Understanding of mainstream service provision d. Have excellent communication skills e. Understanding of equalities and the legal requirements
