KNITTING PATTERN Firefly-Inspired Infant Earflap Hat with Pom-Pom The hat on which this was based, the hat Jayne Cobb receives from his mother by mail in the episode “The Message” of the TV show Firefly, was actually comprised of a three blocks of color: the top half of the hat was yellow, the bottom half orange, and the earflaps magenta. I tried several yarn combinations but wasn't satisfied with any of them. Since this was almost (but not quite) a gag gift I wasn't really interested in shopping around a zillion online yarn stores for the perfect shades. When I saw this outrageous yarn I knew I had a winner – there was enough there to need just one skein, it was soft as butter, and contained every color I needed. If you find errors please let me know; this is my first attempt at making my own pattern.
