Justify the tools, file format, image resolution and colour depth used for creating graphic images. (M2)
Poster
Software: The software I used to create my poster is ‘Adobe Photoshop Cs6’, this is a paid for image manipulating software. Photoshop is one of the best if not the best image-‐manipulating piece of software. I used a lot of features from Photoshop such as the filters and layers mostly. I used the filters so that my all colours on my poster can blend in a way that it looks better. I also used the layers a lot because I was working with a lot of images to start with so I had to put every image in the right layer to make the poster look as good as possible. These are reason why I chose to create my poster with ‘Adobe Photoshop’. Hardware-‐I used 2 hardware tools: Mouse and keyboard: theses two hardware tools are extremely important. I used the keyboard when I needed to add text to my poster. I send the mouse for a lot more such as selecting tools, selecting layers, moving layers to the right places and a lot more. Resolution: I made the resolution for my poster 900 x 600, I did this because I used a lot images and so I had to use a sensible resolution that wouldn’t see any pictures pixelate. If I had used a bigger resolution I could have ended up with a lot of pixelated images. Colour depth: the colour depth I used for my image is 24 bit, this level of colour depth allows the image to look as realistic as possible and since I was working
with a lot of images and adding a lot of filters I had to find the right balance so that it looks as good as possible. Format: I used to formats for my poster I have the psd file which is the original Photoshop document this way I can always go back ad re manipulate the poster and I also have a j-‐peg format file, j-‐peg images are always small, since my psd file was 27mb I had to choose j-‐peg to compress it so I can post it on the web easily. Marquee
Software: The software I used to create my marquee is ‘Adobe illustrator’. I used illustrator because of the features such as layers and swatches. I used the layers to position everything properly so that the marquee looks good, and I downloaded a lizard design swatche from the Internet to use in my marquee also. The specific swatch I wanted could only be used in illustrator, which is the main reason I used illustrator. Hardware-‐ I used the same two hardware tools that I used for my poster. Mouse and Keyboard: are the two Hardware tools that I used. I used the keyboard for when I had to add text to my marquee and also when I wanted to undo a mistake that I made, I used the mouse to select tools and move and select layers. Resolution: the resolution for my marquee is 700 by 400. I used this resolution because I would go on to add my marquee onto my website and also use it as my web banner so I dint want it to take up too much space. Colour depth: I used the same colour depth as I did in my poster 24. As the swatche I was using had a lot of colours in it I wanted it to look as good as possible. File format: I equally have two file types for my marquee like I do for my poster, I have the illustrator file in case I want to re-‐manipulate the marquee again and I also have a j-‐peg file format for it, this way I can post it on the internet and use it In videos and animations with ease because it’s a small file.
