Academic Qualification & Age limit. 1) Have passed the Survey Recorder Class-I examination held by the Hydrographic Department of the Indian Navy and thereafter gained not less than eight years experience or Surveying Recorder Class – II examination held by the Hydrographic Department of the Indian Navy and thereafter gained not less than 12 years experience in the active Hydrographic Surveying in any of the following recognized Hydrographic Organisations namely:(a) Hoogly River Survey Service of Calcutta Port Commissioners. (b) Senior Hydrographic Surveyor, Minor Ports Survey Organisations, Ministry of Surface Transport, Govt.of India and (c) Hydrographic Branch, Indian Navy, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India or Any other comparable large and well-established Hydrographic Organisation or (d) Completed refresher Course in Hydrography for civilian officers conducted by National Institute of Hydrography and have thereafter acquired not less than one year experience in Hydrography, or (e) Possess degree in civil engineering / geomatics or equivalent with 03 years experience in hydrographic survey or (f) Survey Recorder - 1 of the Indian Navy with 10 years experience in survey and navigation. (g) Knowledge of Geographical information System Software and computer operation and knowledge of Nautical Cartography. (2) Age not more than 38 years. The age limit will be relaxed by five years in case of candidates working in the Govt Department.

1) Possess Degree or an equivalent diploma in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Govt. or Survey recorder first class from Hydrographic School Goa under aegis of National Hydrographic Office.

Assistant Hydrographic Surveyor
Pay band Rs.9300 – 34800 Grade pay 4400/plus other allowances ( Pay plus D.A. at initial stage including other allowances is approx. Rs. 42000/- p.m.)

(2)Possess experience of not less than three years as Senior field Assistant in the Govt. Department or Semi- Govt.organization or business establishment. Ex.Navy personnel with experience of ten years or more in Hydrographic Surveying may be given preference. (3) Knowledge of Geographical information System Software and computer operation and knowledge of Nautical Cartography. (4) Possess knowledge of tide reading depth measurement by eco sounding, digital data recording, handling of equipment such as theodolite, level, current meters auto mated tide gauges & differential Global positioning system. (5) Age not more than 38 years. The age limit will be relaxed by five years in case of backward class candidates & candidates working in the Govt .Department
In addition to above the emoluments include medical reimbursement, leave travel allowance and attractive perks as applicable under the policy of Maharashtra Maritime Board. The above posts are of temporary in nature but likely to be continued for further period of time and can be made permanent. In case of ambiguity regarding qualification criterion & age limit, Govt. rules will apply. In case non-availability of a suitable candidate for Assistant Hydrographic Surveyor post in S.C. category, the post will be filled up on contract basis from the candidates of categories other than S.C. for the period of one year and the consolidated salary of Rs42,000/- p.m. will be paid to the candidate selected on contract basis.
