Beginning with the first book in this series, Carrie, the youngest of the family, is a spoiled brat. Being mad at Sarah for stealing her letters and tickets, she is determined to make her pay. As she sets out for Montana, she runs into some trouble and doesn't make it right away. Being helped by a man she doesn't trust, she gives him a false name. They go through many adventures with Carrie still being a brat making their travels miserable and sometimes hilarious. Of course Fred thanks she is just feisty enough to make him attractive to her. When she runs into some trouble, he's there to save her to only put himself in danger and almost killed. Then comes Bia. She's able to help Carrie get him help. And so the story goes on. I feel that's enough to say without completely spoiling the the story. I highly recommend this book. There's never a dull moment. My only negative, is the ending. You will see when you get there. They are all great and the writing is wonderful. In this book we meet Fred Connor who is on the run. He is with the wrong people and rob a stagecoach. No other then Sarah’s sister Carrie is on that stage. Fred is an outlaw but he has not done everything they are accusing him of. His mom is very ill and Sarah and John are taking care of her little to Carrie’s knowledge. Carrie is taken care of by Fred he does not believe in hurting women. Carrie is a mail order bride to a man and out to see her sister Sarah and her family. We see Carrie grow with all the ups and downs in this story. We have a few things going on in this story from an Indian Trail to Fred’s bad business partners to helping Fred’s mother to love. The story is great and the characters are well done. By Normsie Fred was forced to turn to a life of crime to support his ailing Mother. He decided to send for a Mail-order-Bride to help care for his Mother in his absence. Carrie, youngest in a family of 5 from Indiana was planning to become a mail order bride to save her family's farm, but her older sister, Sarah took her place and stole her mail order husband a successful banker from Helena Montana. Carrie was very angry and determined to follow her sister to Montana and get revenge. She found another man in the area looking for a mail-order-bride and decides to accept his proposal, but he turner out to be an outlaw. Carrie and Fred's story has many twists and turns and a multitude of surprises along the way. This book is well written and has a surprising ending. A real page turner.
