When the Mall first opened its doors, the building was home to 330 stores and employed more than 10,000 people. Now, Mall of America houses more than 520 stores, over 50 restaurants, an amusement park and more, and employs more than 12,000 people. If you’re more of a tactile learner, spend a day at the Science Museum of Minnesota or swing by the Minnesota Zoo. ith rosters full of talent and a team for every major sport taking the field, court or ice, sports are a way of life in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Football fans can board the newly christened U.S. Bank Stadium with the Vikings on their maiden voyage. The Minnesota Lynx—who will play the 2017 season at Saint Paul’s Xcel Energy Center—have hoisted the WNBA Championship trophy three of the past five years, and five of their players played at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Target Center serves as the den for the Timberwolves, with a team of young pups who will be looking to prove they’re the true alphas among the elite. Next door you’ll find Target Field, home to the Minnesota Twins. Across the river is where you’ll find “the pond” in the Xcel Energy Center, where the Wild take the ice and outskate their opponents to prove why Minnesota is the “State of Hockey.” So no matter your sport of choice, the Twin Cities have something for the fan in all of us.

After most of the dust has settled, the four teams skilled enough—with just a pinch of luck—will shoot the lights out in an effort to punch their ticket to the Championship.

Getting Around YOUR HOME BASE Mall of America® is your shopping and entertainment home base, and it’s also part of a major transportation hub. The Mall is only three minutes away from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport by car and is easily accessed by public transportation; the METRO Blue Line gets you there in 13 minutes. It’s a breeze to bookend your trip with a visit to the Mall, and its location at Interstate 494 and Highway 77 means Minneapolis and St. Paul are a mere 15 minutes away. Rental cars, taxis, buses, trains and our Nice Ride bikeshare program are just some of the options that can take you throughout the metro.

THE BASICS AIRPORT For air travelers, Mall of America is only three miles (five kilometers) from MSP International Airport. The airport (divided into two terminals) is a major hub that offers nonstop service from points throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and Mexico. CAR Motorists enjoy the convenience of the east-west stretch of 494 that connects Bloomington’s many hotels and restaurants to Mall of America and MSP International Airport. The freeway brings drivers to 35W and 35E, which link 494 to both downtown areas. PARK More than 20,000 free parking spaces (many covered) make Mall of America a

great destination for travel. Parking ramps are located on the east and west sides of the Mall, and a surface lot is located at the north entrance. An overflow parking area is located north of the Mall across Lindau Lane.
SHUTTLE Please check with individual hotels for schedules and availability of hotel shuttles to Mall of America. Shuttles pick up and drop off passengers at the north entrance.
TAXI Taxi stands are found at the north entrance to Mall of America, located off of American Boulevard. To MSP International Airport: $14 To downtown Minneapolis: $30 To downtown St. Paul: $25 Prices for taxis are subject to change.
TRAIN The 19 stations on the METRO Blue Line take riders from Mall of America in Bloomington to Target Field on the north side of downtown Minneapolis. From there you can connect to the METRO Green Line, which has 23 stations (five shared with the Blue Line) that will take you to downtown St. Paul. Fares range from $1.75 to $2.25 depending on time of day. Tickets can be purchased at Metro Transit stores or at METRO stops. Riders must pay before boarding ($180 fine for failure to do so). Train schedules are available online and at most stops. Travel time from the Mall to the airport is 10-12 minutes and 30 minutes to Minneapolis.
BUS The Twin Cities’ extensive bus system connects Bloomington with both Minneapolis and St. Paul. Arrive and depart from Mall of America easily at the Mall’s Transit Center. Fares range from $1.75 to $3 depending on the type of bus and time of day. Day passes are available for $6. Rides within downtown zones only cost 50 cents. Free bus parking is available in the north surface lot, access from Lindau Lane.
