VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Malteser International is a German non-governmental organisation providing humanitarian assistance and development aid for people in need in over 40 countries. Our main focus lies in the sector of health and water/sanitation. Malteser International is currently running several health programmes in Yangon Division, Northern Rakhine State, Eastern & Northern Shan State and Kayin State and is looking for an efficient, motivated and experienced person to fill position.
Medical Officer
Location: Mong Lar, Special Region IV, Shan State Main Responsibilities / Duties Under the direct supervision of the HIV Coordinator, and overall supervision of Country Health Coordinator and Programme Coordinator, the Medical Officer will be responsible for the following activities: 1. To work very closely with the HIV Manager by taking necessary inputs and guidance and applying them in work place. 2. Responsible to update and report to HIV Manager about relevant information, difficulties in work place in timely manner. 3. Maintain a “client-friendly” atmosphere that is non-judgemental but supportive to clients, regardless of their background. 4. To provide best possible clinical management - patient care, quality diagnosis and drug management, by following standard guidelines for STI, HIV/AIDS, OI etc. 5. To ensure smooth operation of clinics and outreach activities in locations. Responsible for to collect, compile, analyse, and discuss timely progress data of outreach activities and to prepare appropriate reports. 6. To oversee the team and actively take part in Health Education, Home based care, Home visits, Social and Welfare support activities in both locations. 7. To participate and assist the team in developing monthly plans for Health Education activities, Home-based care and Social and Welfare support activities. 8. To participate in developing appropriate curriculum, training materials and to conduct trainings for staff to oversee. This includes developing materials for providing emotional and practical support to relations and partners of PLWHA. 9. To participate in selection, training and support supervision of all Peer Education programs – CSW’s, Youth and PLWHA’s. 10. Responsible for mobilising family members of PLWHA’s for VCCT. 11. Responsible for managing food distribution and nutrition support to PLWHA‘s 12. Responsible for tracking PLWHA’s and to monitor their adherence to ART. 13. Work as a positive team member, adhere and respect Malteser international guidelines and codes. 14. To maintain a non-judgemental but supportive attitude towards colleagues regardless of their social and educational background. 15. To carry-out any other relevant duties – in accordance to professional capacity and calibre as assigned by the Program and/or Project Management.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
Qualified medical doctor with previous work experience (minimum 2 years) in public health, preferably with clinical / management experience in HIV / AIDS and STIs programmes; Ability to ensure supportive supervision, data collection and reporting; Good communication skills and ability to facilitate training; Ability to work independently, to tight deadline and ensure staff coordination; Ability to organize and conduct training and proper utilization of IEC materials; Interest and motivation to work in remote area; Ability to live and work under demanding work environments with minimum available basic facilities;

Language skills: Myanmar, Chinese, English (Shan is a plus)
